Transfer Rater: Luke Shaw to Tottenham, Wilfred Ndidi to United

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Lazar Markovic to West Ham

West Ham United are interested in signing the enigmatic Lazar Markovic, the Liverpool winger who is on loan at Hull City. The Hammers are in the market for a flair player after losing Dimitri Payet in January. The Reds are hoping to recoup the majority of the £21 million they spent on the 23-year-old Serbia international in July 2014. The Daily Mail reports Jurgen Klopp, who doesn't see a future for the attacker at Anfield, would demand a minimum of £16m for the former Benfica player. He's slowly rebuilding his career at the KCOM stadium with a series of impressive performances after a disappointing loan spell at Sporting Lisbon.

Cedric to Chelsea

The Evening Standard is reporting that Chelsea have added a third Southampton defender to their summer transfer target list after setting their sights on right-back Cedric Soares. Antonio Conte is said to be eyeing up moves for in-demand centre-back Virgil van Dijk and former Blues left-back Ryan Bertrand. Chelsea's lack of defensive depth showed during Saturday's defeat to Crystal Palace when their usually formidable defence looked severely disjointed with Pedro filling in at right wing-back for Victor Moses. Cedric is said to be a transfer target for Barcelona.

Luke Shaw to Tottenham

The Sun claims Luke Shaw wants Mauricio Pochettino to rescue him from his Old Trafford nightmare. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was critical of the former Southampton full-back after the 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion. He responded in the match with Everton when his late shot was handled by Ashley Williams allowing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to slot home from the spot. However, Mourinho still doesn't seem entirely sold on the 21-year-old left-back and he may be forced to move elsewhere to get his career back on track. Shaw could see White Hart Lane is the ideal place for him to develop.

Wilfred Ndidi to Manchester United

According to the Daily Mirror, a surprise name could top the list of Manchester United's summer transfer targets. Leicester City are worried that United will lure midfielder Wilfred Ndidi away from the King Power Stadium. The Nigeria international signed for the Foxes in January and his superb performances have played a part in their rise up the Premier League table to mid-table safety. Jose Mourinho is planning for life after 35-year-old Michael Carrick and 20-year-old Ndidi could be the long-term answer.

Lucas Torreira to Atletico Madrid

Calciomercato reports Atletico Madrid are interested in Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira. Alongside Patrik Schick and Luis Muriel, Torreira has been one of the standout performers for the club and his form has rightly caught the eye of many of Europe's top clubs. Inter Milan are said to be interested in both the midfielder and Schick. However, reports suggest it's Atleti, managed by Diego Simeone, who are at the front of the queue for the 21-year-old.
