Rui Faria given six-game stadium ban

Chelsea assistant first-team coach Rui Faria has been hit with a six-game stadium ban and been fined 30,000 pounds by the Football Association following his behaviour during last month's 2-1 loss to Sunderland.

Lythell: Champions League saga ends with a whimper

Faria was dismissed for angrily confronting the match officials during the defeat at Stamford Bridge -- a result which dealt a huge blow to the Blues' Premier League title hopes.

The Portuguese was charged by the FA for using abusive language towards fourth official Phil Dowd as well as for his improper conduct after being told to leave the technical area.

Faria admitted the charges and requested a non-personal hearing, with the FA announcing its decision on Thursday.

An official statement read: "Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Chelsea coach Rui Faria has been given a six-match stadium ban with immediate effect, subject to any appeal, after he admitted two breaches of FA Rules.

"The first breach was that Faria used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official during Chelsea's game against Sunderland on April 19, 2014.

"The second breach was that his behaviour following the match referee's request that he leave the technical area amounted to improper conduct.

"Faria, who requested a non-personal hearing, was also fined £30,000 and warned as to his future conduct."

Blues boss Jose Mourinho was also charged with improper conduct following the comments he made in the aftermath of the Sunderland clash.

Mourinho has denied the charge and requested a non-personal hearing.
