Guingamp 5-1 Caen

Christophe Mandanne and Claudio Beauvue scored twice apiece as Guingamp moved off the foot of Ligue 1 with a comfortable 5-1 victory over 10-man Caen at the Stade du Roudourou.

The hosts ended a four-match losing streak in all competitions as they got off the mark early on through Mandanne and though Alaeddine Yahia struck an equaliser for Caen after 17 minutes, Thibault Giresse put Jocelyn Gourvennec's men ahead for the second time three minutes later.

Jean-Jacques Pierre saw red for the away side before Mandanne's second - just after the hour - was sandwiched between a Beauvue penalty and his 78th-minute effort.

The result moved Guingamp off the bottom of the table and one point above the relegation zone and in turn condemned their opponents, who have not won in the league since October, to drop down a place into 18th.

After just four minutes, Mandanne and Beauvue combined well on the left before the former put his delivery beyond visiting goalkeeper Remy Vercoutre with a great strike.

It did not take Caen long to get on the scoresheet and a mistake in the Guingamp defence saw the ball fall to Pierre, who picked out Yahia in the box and the Tunisian made no mistake as he beat Jonas Lossl with a point-blank header.

But the hosts struck back midway through the first half through Giresse, who sent a powerful first-time shot at the Caen goal and though Vercoutre made a decent reflex save, he could not hold onto the ball as it made its way into the back of the net.

The home side began the second half looking for a third but a superb save from Vercoutre held Mandanne out.

As the match approached the hour mark, Guingamp were awarded a penalty following a Pierre handball in the box as the Caen defender received his marching orders.

Beauvue made no mistake as - despite going the right way - Vercoutre was unable to prevent the hosts' third.

Moments later Guingamp extended their lead as Mandanne was played in perfectly behind the Caen defence and, from a tight angle, drilled a shot through Vercoutre's legs, while Beauvue headed in from Giresse's corner with a little over 10 minutes left to complete the scoring.
