Nice 1-3 Bordeaux
Willy Sagnol's Bordeaux top the fledgling Ligue 1 table after beating Nice 3-1 to register a third straight victory. The former France defender appears to be adapting to top-flight management seamlessly and with nine points collected from the first nine on offer, Sagnol and his free-scoring Girondins are setting the early pace in France. They had to come from behind to win at the Allianz Riviera, though, given the fact Alexys Bosetti fired Nice ahead with a sumptuous shot in the 12th minute.Cheick Diabate - later dismissed with 10 minutes remaining - equalised from the penalty spot shortly before the half-hour mark, leaving Nicolas Maurice-Belay and Gregory Sertic to notch the goals that kept Bordeaux flying high.Nice started the brightest on Saturday night and, seven minutes after Julien Vercauteren blazed the ball over the bar, Bosetti bent a swerving strike beyond Cedric Carrasso to get things started on the south coast.Diego Rolan tried his luck twice before Bordeaux were handed a way back into the match by Eric Bautheac, who brought Wahbi Khazri down in the penalty box.Diabate was charged with taking the kick and gladly slotted the ball past Mouez Hassan and into the bottom corner. One minute before the interval Nice were up in arms after Eyserric's goal from a free-kick was ruled out due to Romain Genevois being caught marginally offside.Les Aiglons would stew over that refereeing decision over the break and were driven to deplore it further only two minutes after play resumed.Swift interplay between Rolan and Diabate allowed the latter to tee up Maurice-Belay, who did the rest with a clinical finish beyond Hassen. The fourth and final goal arrived in the 55th minute. Bordeaux soaked up a Nice attack before breaking forward and Sertic was best placed to curl Maurice-Belay's pass into the back of the net. However, their bid to sit back and ride out the victory suffered a late setback when Diabate picked up his second yellow card of the day in the 81st minute. That did free up some extra space for Nice's strikers but, despite the fact Niklas Hult and Neil Maupay both went agonisingly close notching at the death, Bordeaux clung on to rubber-stamp their position at the top of the tree.ends
