Benjamin Corgnet goal proves decisive as St Etienne sink Angers

Benjamin Corgnet's first goal of the season was enough to bring an end to St Etienne's recent winless streak with a slender 1-0 defeat of second-placed Angers. The visitors' failure to clear their lines just after the hour mark allowed Corgnet the time to accurately steer the ball into the top corner for what proved to be the only goal of the game.Les Verts rode their luck at times and Stephane Ruffier did well to keep out Pierrick Capelle's shot late on before Jonathan Brison almost sliced into his own net. Then, with the full-time whistle looming, Silmane Sissoko's stinging drive came back off the underside of the crossbar with Ruffier well beaten.
