Chris Wondolowski scored an early goal and the San Jose Earthquakes managed a 1-1 draw away from home at Real Salt Lake on Friday night.

Wondolowski scored his eighth goal of the season but first since April in the ninth minute after lashing home a loose ball following a corner kick.

But RSL answered in the second half when Luke Mulholland scored following a high lobbed pass in the box from Javier Morales.

Substitute Shea Salinas nearly won the game for San Jose when his powerful shot from distance crashed off the bar in the 80th minute.

Earthquakes keeper David Bingham was then called upon to make two huge saves in stoppage time to preserve the draw.
