Maxwel Cornet's goal helps Lyon beat 10-man Lille
Maxwel Cornet's early goal proved decisive as Lyon beat 10-man Lille 1-0 to move into fourth in Ligue 1.
The France Under-21 international scored his second goal of the season just three minutes into the game with a close-range angled shot.
Struggling Lille, who have now lost eight of the last 10, were not helped by the 55th-minute dismissal of Younousse Sankhare for a second bookable offence.
Despite their numerical disadvantage the hosts continued to press for an equaliser and almost found it two minutes from the end when Ibrahim Amadou crashed a shot against the crossbar.
