Bayern Munich held to draw by 10-man Frankfurt
Bayern Munich stumbled for the third game in succession as they were pegged back for a 2-2 draw at 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt.
Arjen Robben gave Bayern the lead before Szabolcs Huszti went from hero to villain for Frankfurt, bringing them on terms before the break before getting sent off in the 65th minute.
Bayern's lead was restored by Joshua Kimmich just before the red card, but Marco Fabian equalised again and Frankfurt held on for a point.
Having also drawn their previous Bundesliga game, 1-1 with Cologne, and lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League it extended Bayern's poor run of form across both sides of the international break.
Bayern, whose coach Carlo Ancelotti afforded himself the luxury of leaving Poland striker Robert Lewandowski on the bench, went ahead in the 10th minute when Robben lifted David Alaba's cross past the last defender before rifling a low shot into the far corner.
Fabian went close to bringing the hosts level in the 15th minute when his volley struck the inside of the post and Frankfurt continued to take the game to their visitors.
Alexander Meier saw a header saved by Manuel Neuer before Huszti deservedly brought Frankfurt level just before half-time.
A bit of luck saw the ball find its way through to the Hungarian, but it was the break the Eagles had been looking for and he beat Neuer with a perfectly-placed shot.
Bayern were much improved in the second half and it took them just over a quarter of an hour to regain the lead, with Kimmich getting on the end of Mats Hummels' mishit shot and providing the finish.
Frankfurt's hopes of recovering suffered a blow a few minutes later when Huszti was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card, but the Eagles did not give up.
Niko Kovac's men threw caution to the wind and levelled in the 78th minute when Timothy Chandler's shot was turned in at close range by Fabian, who used his chest to score from what seemed to be an offside position.
It was backs-to-the-wall stuff from the hosts in the final 10 minutes but they managed to hold on for a precious point, denying Bayern the chance to extend their lead over Hertha Berlin and Borussia Dortmund, who drew on Friday night.
