Tyrell Robinson strikes to earn Bradford draw at Charlton
Bradford fought back from a goal down to earn a valuable 1-1 Sky Bet League One draw at Charlton in their first match under new manager Simon Grayson. In the third successive fixture in which the hosts dropped points with the concession of a late goal, they struggled throughout the second half after Josh Magennis had given them the lead and eventually succumbed to a header from substitute Tyrell Robinson.Bradford, whose winless run stretched to eight games, started with the same lack of confidence that had led to previous manager Stuart McCall's dismissal before showing signs of recovery after half-time.They were under threat as early as the fourth minute, when Charlton's Mark Marshall broke from midfield and forced a fine diving save from Colin Doyle with a 25-yard strike towards the bottom left corner.Magennis then gave the hosts the lead in the 24th minute when Tariqe Fosu drove forward before finding Marshall, who crossed to the striker from where he headed just inside the left post.At the end of a largely-unchallenged run deep into Charlton's half, Charlie Wyke found Adam Chicksen in space inside the area, from where the left-back struck just beyond the far, right angle in their first response. When Sullay Kaikai again went close when shooting just over the crossbar early in the second half the hosts appeared well-placed to extend their lead, but it was them who then came under pressure.Chicksen forced a fine save from Ben Amos with another strike, and from a 25-yard free-kick, Tony McMahon then beat the goalkeeper but curled against the crossbar. The equalising goal came in the 80th minute, and with the run of play, when Wyke found space to cross from the right and Robinson sent a powerful header past Amos at his near post, ensuring Bradford remain sixth and in the play-off places, and that seventh-placed Charlton still trail them by two points.
