Bayern v Wolfsburg
Harry Kane hits 20-goal landmark as Bayern Munich complete thrashing of Wolfsburg
Harry Kane scored in Bayern Munich's 8-1 rout over Wolfsburg to reach the 20-goal mark in the Bundesliga after only 16 matches.
A tight first half at Allianz Arena was followed by a masterful attacking display with Kane spearheading, but Michael Olise struck twice with Luis Díaz, Raphaël Guerreiro and Leon Goretzka also on target.
Kane's 69th-minute effort kept him on course to better the 41-goal league campaign by Robert Lewandowski in the 2020-21 season -- and opened up an 11-point lead at the summit for Bayern after Borussia Dortmund dropped points in Friday's 3-3 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Bayern only needed five minutes to break the deadlock in their first match after the winter break with a dangerous cross by Diaz deflected in by Wolfsburg defender Kilian Fischer.
Diaz squandered an opportunity soon after, but the visitors levelled in shock fashion after only 13 minutes when Lovro Majer slipped in Dzenan Pejcinovic, who slotted beyond Manuel Neuer.
It lifted Wolfsburg as Majer had a shot blocked before ex-Tottenham and Manchester United playmaker Christian Eriksen whizzed an effort off target.
A third goal of the match arrived after 30 minutes and Bayern claimed it as Olise's corner picked out Diaz to head home.
It was 2-1 at halftime and Kane was fine to continue, despite brief treatment at the end of the first half, but the second half belonged to Olise.
The France international grabbed his first goal in the 50th minute when he cut inside and angled a shot into the far corner for a trademark finish.
Three minutes later, Olise grabbed an assist when Wolfsburg's Moritz Jenz put it into his own net -- after an initial exquisite pass from the halfway line by Kane.
It was quickly damage-limitation mode for Wolfsburg, but two goals in the space of a minute followed as Kane produced a wonderful curled effort from 17 yards in off the woodwork before Guerreiro joined the party seconds later.
There was still time for Olise to poke home to complete his brace and Goretzka wrapped up the scoring in the 88th minute when he slide in from a tight angle to help Vincent Kompany's Bayern extend their advantage at the top.
