Bayern drop points at Hamburg despite Harry Kane's 22nd goal this season

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich dropped more points as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Hamburg.

Fabio Vieira had given the home side a 34th-minute lead from the penalty spot, but Harry Kane equalised in the 42nd minute.

Luis Díaz put Bayern in front having just come on at the start of the second half, but Luka Vuskovic's towering header secured a deserved draw for Hamburg.

Hamburg -- having slipped into the relegation play-off spot after earlier results -- made a positive start, with Vuskovic nodding wide from a corner.

Bayern -- who suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Augsburg last weekend, a first Bundesliga loss in 27 matches -- slowly grew into the game as Serge Gnabry fired over from 20 yards.

Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes was then alert to produce two smart reaction saves to first deny Michael Olise and then Lennart Karl.

At the other end, Manuel Neuer produced an impressive stop to deny Hamburg defender Nicolás Capaldo after 24 minutes.

Joshua Kimmich was close to giving Bayern the lead on the half-hour mark when his 20-yard effort crashed back off the crossbar.

Hamburg were awarded penalty in the 32nd minute when Kimmich caught Nicolai Remberg as he stretched to clear a 50-50 ball. Vieira coolly slotted the spot-kick low into the left corner, just past Neuer's reach.

Bayern were level when Gnabry was played in down the left channel and his cutback across the six-yard box dropped to Kane, who netted his 22nd league goal of the season.

Gnabry then thought he had put Bayern in front just before the break when he swept the ball in from Kane's cross, but the England captain had strayed offside in the build-up.

Diaz replaced Karl for the start of the second half and made an instant impact as he slotted home in the 46th minute after being picked out by a slide-rule pass from Olise.

But Hamburg equalised in the 53rd minute.

A sweeping diagonal pass found William Mikelbrencis on the left and his looping cross into the Bayern penalty area was headed home by Vuskovic.

Bayern came close to retaking the lead again in the 65th minute when a corner from Olise deflected up off a couple of Hamburg defenders and hit the crossbar.

With 15 minutes left, Hamburg almost snatched a late goal following a swift breakaway when substitute Rayan Philippe clipped the ball past Neuer to Vieira -- but his shot was hacked off the line by Alphonso Davies.

Jamal Musiala then saw his rising strike tipped over by Heuer Fernandes before a late penalty claim from Bayern for handball by Daniel Elfadli as he blocked a shot was turned down after a VAR review.
