Andrey Arshavin's Kuban Krasnodar deal terminated, considering retiring

Andrey Arshavin is considering retirement after his contract at Kuban Krasnodar was terminated by mutual consent.

Former Russia international Arshavin, 34, joined Kuban in July but the deal was terminated six months early after making only nine appearances.

Arshavin made his name with Zenit St Petersburg before making a big-money move to Arsenal in 2009, but he struggled to maintain his early form in the Premier League and returned to Zenit, initially on loan, in 2012.

His second spell at the Petrovsky Stadium proved a disappointment and, after his stint in Krasnodar, he is preparing to hang up his boots.

"The decision was made because of many factors, and not due to a specific event," he said, according to the R-Sport agency. "I will remain in Krasnodar until all the technical issues with the club are solved.

"If there is an offer to continue playing, I will definitely take a look at it. If not, I will end my career."
