Norwich City sign midfielder Alex Pritchard from Tottenham Hotspur

Norwich City have signed Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alex Pritchard for an undisclosed fee.

Pritchard, who has signed a four-year contract at Carrow Road, had been linked with an £8 million move to Brighton earlier in the summer.

But Norwich, relegated from the Premier League last season, made a late approach for the 23-year-old, who shone on loan at Brentford two seasons ago.

Pritchard, who joined Spurs from the West Ham academy in 2009, scored 12 goals as the Bees reached the playoffs.

He had loan spells with Peterborough United and Swindon Town before making his Tottenham debut in the final game of the 2013-14 campaign.

The former England under-21 international told the official Norwich website: "I'm ready to fight for my place and hopefully play well.

"I feel I need to go out and prove myself again. I'm 23 now, so it's about time I had my own path.

"I've had a full preseason, and with our first game [at Blackburn] at the weekend I'm looking forward to hopefully bedding myself in quickly."

City boss Alex Neil said Pritchard was "an exciting player who is capable of both scoring and creating goals."

"He is proven at this level, having excelled at Brentford, and adds to our attacking options," he added. "I'm really looking forward to working with him."

Norwich have also signed goalkeeper Paul Jones, who was at Portsmouth last season, on a two-year deal.
