Man City target Nolito denies talks with Pep Guardiola have been held

Spain attacker Nolito says he has not spoken to Pep Guardiola about a move to his new club Manchester City, as his current Celta Vigo teammate John Guidetti has tipped him to be a big success in the Premier League.

Nolito is widely expected to join City after Spain's Euro 2016 tournament ends, and his €18 million (£13.8m) release clause is triggered, with other suitors including his former club Barcelona and Atletico Madrid missing out.

While at the tournament in France the Andalucian, 29, has regularly refused to confirm or deny reports over his future, and has said in Marca that he has yet to speak with Guardiola while suggesting that he was happy with how things were now turning out.

"We will see what happens with my future," Nolito said. "I am not complaining about how things are going. But I have not signed with Manchester City. I am not lying. We will see what happens. I have not spoken with Guardiola."

Meanwhile Sweden international Guidetti, whose seven years as a City player were mostly spent on loan at other clubs, says his current Celta teammate has shown his quality both in La Liga and at the current Euros tournament.

"He is an amazing footballer. I played with him this year and for a striker to have someone like that playing on the wing for you, it is an absolute pleasure," the Sweden striker told reporters.

"He just brings the ball into you and he has great delivery, you can just see it in the way he has performed at the Euros. I am pleased for him as well because this was a big, big time for him and this is a big opportunity for him. He deserves it."

Nolito would become the second signing for new City boss Pep Guardiola following the £21m signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

The former Bayern Munich boss worked for a year with Nolito during their time together at Barcelona and Guidetti, who left City for the Spanish club last summer, says his style of play will suit Guardiola's game plan.

"We had a great year at Celta with the way we performed against the big teams, the way we beat Barcelona at home 4-1, the way we knocked Atletico Madrid out of the cup and things like this. We showed that we are a very good team," he added.

"The way we play football is very attractive. I think that helped him as well because then he got to see a lot of the ball. We keep a lot of possession, we want to play football and that's the thing he likes.

"So even though he played for Celta Vigo, who are not classed as a big team, he still got to see a lot of the ball and they gave him the game he needs to shine. So I think that was very supportive for him," He said.

"Eventually it [a big move] is going to come, if you are a good player eventually it will come to you."
