Hull and Marseille target Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew - sources

Hull City and Marseille are lining up bids for Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

Ghana international Ayew was Villa's top scorer last season, netting seven goals in 30 Premier League appearances as they were relegated to the Championship.

A number of clubs across Europe have been monitoring his situation at Villa, who are reluctant to sell the 24-year-old but could be tempted to sell for around £11 million after signing Ross McCormack earlier this summer.

Hull are still looking to bolster their squad before Wednesday's deadline having so far failed to bring in any first-team signings this summer, and a new striker is among their top priorities.

Marseille, who are on the verge of being taken over by American businessman Frank H. McCourt Jr., are looking to improve their squad as they aim to transform their fortunes and see Ayew as a key addition to their plans.
