Tottenham Hotspur players have eased off since new contracts - Glenn Hoddle

Glenn Hoddle has said he believes the Tottenham Hotspur players who have signed new contracts with the club have "taken their foot off the pedal."

Former Spurs player and manager Hoddle made his comments after watching the team suffer a 1-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League at Wembley on Wednesday.

Star names including Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker have all put pen to paper on new White Hart Lane contracts.

But Spurs are without a win in six games since beating Manchester City last month and Hoddle told BT Sport: "I think it's a positive thing that Tottenham have got a lot of these young players signed to new contracts.

"But since they've signed them they've taken their foot off the pedal. I think that's something to do with it."

Spurs, fifth in the Premier League with five wins and five draws from their 10 games, play North London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
