Yeboah, Latimer spark Stony Brook past Albany 67-66 in OT
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Akwasi Yeboah scored 21 points with 11 rebounds and Miles Latimer blocked a potential game-winning 3-point shot as time expired in overtime and Stony Brook edged Albany 67-66 Wednesday night, foiling the Great Danes' hopes for a first America East Conference victory.
Albany (5-15, 0-5) battled conference-leading Stony Brook (17-3, 5-0) through six ties and 12 lead changes, each team holding the lead for roughly 20 minutes.
Albany's Ahmad Clark curled into the paint for a reverse layup with 3.4 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game 61-61 and force overtime. Clark, again, squared up for a potential game-winning 3 at the top of the arc but Latimer got fingers on the ball and the shot fell well short as the game ended.
Yeboah opened overtime with a 3-pointer and Jaron Cornish scored the winning 3-pointer with 1:43 remaining.
Antonio Rizzuto scored a career-high 21 points for Albany, making five 3-pointers. Cam Healy scored 14 points and Malachi De Sousa a career-best 11.
