Sam Houston defeats Florida International 70-56 to improve to 14-11 on the season.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- — Lamar Wilkerson's 14 points helped Sam Houston defeat Florida International 70-56 on Thursday night.

Wilkerson also had five rebounds for the Bearkats (14-11, 7-3 Conference USA). Marcus Boykin scored nine points while going 3 of 6 (3 for 3 from 3-point range), and added three steals. Cameron Huefner had eight points and finished 2 of 6 from the field.

Jayden Brewer led the way for the Panthers (8-17, 3-7) with 15 points and three steals. Jaidon Lipscomb added 10 points and two blocks for Florida International. Arturo Dean also recorded eight points, four assists and three steals.

Sam Houston took the lead with 9:26 left in the first half and did not give it up. Wilkerson led his team in scoring with 11 points in the first half to help put them up 39-29 at the break. Damon Nicholas Jr. scoring a team-high seven points in the final half.
