The Broncos announced several promotions Friday as well as the re-organization of what they will now call their Football and Technology department led by Tony Lazzaro, who has been with the Broncos for 19 years. Among several promotions were Matt Russell to vice president of player personnel and Mark Thewes to vice president of football operation and compliance. Both Russell and Thewes were already with the organization when John Elway was hired as the team's top football executive in 2011.

ESPN announced Wednesday the Broncos were one of four finalists for the Sports Humanitarian Team of the Year award -- the Dodgers, the Sacramento Kings and New York City FC were the others. The winner will be announced June 21. The award recognizes an organization's work in the community and for the Broncos it includes their work with the Boys and Girls Club as well as many other charities and outreach programs in the Denver area.

Broncos tackle Elijah Wilkinson, who coach Vic Fangio has said will compete with Garett Bolles for the starting left tackle job, has had surgery on his left foot (he suffered what the team called a high ankle sprain in the Broncos' win over the Lions last December). Wilkinson posted a photo on social media this weekend that showed him with a walking boot on his left foot/ankle and using a medical scooter for his left leg. Wilkinson is expected to be medically cleared in time for training camp.

While things can change, the Broncos have released the dates and kickoff times for three of their preseason games: Aug. 15, vs. San Francisco 49ers Aug. 22, vs. Chicago Bears Sept. 3, at Arizona Cardinals The Broncos' fourth preseason game will be between Aug. 27-30 at the Los Angeles Rams.
