The NRL returned after a couple of months off due to the global coronavirus pandemic and the action didn't disappoint.

Result: The Eels enjoyed the benefits of the new six again rule, running the Broncos into the ground with seemingly endless sets of tackles and a mountain of possession. The Broncos defended gallantly but fell away as the disciplined Eels ran in six tries to one. Mitchell Moses was well in command of the Eels as they maintained their position at the top of the NRL ladder.

Result: The Cowboys were simply too good for the Titans in Townsville. After surviving an early Titans onslaught the Cowboys showed their class in the second half, taking full advantage of the quicker game play. Cowboys halves Scott Drinkwater and Jake Clifford are beginning to form a deadly combination, with their kicking and passing games leading their team around the park.

Result: The Roosters returned to their best football after a slow start to the 2020 season, beating their neighbours in an impressive display at Bankwest Stadium. The Rabbitohs put up a dogged display, keeping the Roosters within sight, without ever really threatening. James Tedesco was at his scintillating best from fullback, while the Roosters pack dominated through the middle. Out wide the Morris twins were brilliant in their first game together at the Roosters.

Result: With an unheard of near-perfect completion rate (46 of 48) the Warriors made light of their Australian isolation, running in three tries while keeping the Dragons scoreless. It was an incredible display from the often sloppy Warriors and it left the Dragons winless, with coach Paul McGregor under enormous pressure.

Result: The Tigers started well running up a 10-0 lead against the Sharks, before letting them right back into the game. The Sharks went to the break with a 16-10 lead and all the momentum. A couple of soft defensive efforts in the second half saw the Tigers retake control of the game. Benji Marshall was at his best and new hooker Harry Grant had a solid debut for the Tigers.

Result: The match of the round lived up to expectations and surpassed them if you are a Raiders fan. The Green Machine flew into Melbourne and absolutely dominated the Storm. It was their third-straight victory in Melbourne and stamped their credentials as one of the favourites to win this year's title. English import halfback George WIlliams put on an impressive display, leading the Raiders in attack and defence.

Result: In an absolute thriller at Campbelltown Stadium, the Knights fought back from 14-0 down and the early loss of Mitchell Pearce and Connor Watson to draw level with the Panthers at fulltime. At the end of golden point extra time, with both missing field goal attempts, the teams could not be separated. Tex Hoy was one of the Knights best on debut and Bradman Best made a big difference off the bench as well. Panthers coach Ivan Cleary will rue a game they really should have won, with five-eightth Matt Burton missing five shots at field game during regular and extra time.

Result: As expected Manly had way too much class across the field for the miserable Bulldogs, with Tom Trbojevic leading the way from fullback. In attack the Bulldogs continued to turn to their props when near the opposition line with predicable results. If Paul McGregor is under pressure at the Dragons, then Dean Pay can't be far behind him as the Bulldogs continue to dish up the same disappointing play week after week.
