Match Commentary

82'29-26 End of half
82'29-26 End of half
81'Solid scrum from Australia, but Will Genia is penalised for offside and Rory Kockott puts the ball in touch. Revenge for France.
81'+129-26 End of second half
80'Clock ticking and France managing the time well as they set slowly for the scrum. French hold the scrum before Nigel Owens calls for a reset.
78'Ben Alexander knocks on in contact, and France have an opportunity to regroup. Hosts looking tired suddenly.
77'Australia finishing very strongly and they're finding holes with their man advantage. Quade Cooper instrumental for Wallabies.
77'29-26 Conversion - Bernard Foley , Australia
76'Quade Cooper produced great hands to deliver the offload in contact for Simmons and Australia are back in this with a man advantage.
76'29-24 Try - Rob Simmons , Australia
75'Wonderful break deep into French 22 by Israel Folau, but he has no support. Australia do well to retain the ball. Two phases later, Rob Simmons rumbles over unmolested after Will Genia, Quade Cooper and Israel Folau combine to create an hole.
75'Substitute on - Yannick Nyanga Kabasele , France
75'Player substituted - Bernard le Roux , France
74'Yellow card - Remi Tales , France
73'Deep inside French territory and Remi Tales carded for slowing down the play. Massive advantage and opportunity for Australia, but Will Skelton spills the ball in contact. Once again poor fundamentals from the Wallabies.
72'Australia try through Israel Folau and Tevita Kuridrani to the left before the ball goes back to the right and Adam Ashley-Cooper makes a great break on the right with Teddy Thomas down in back play.
72'29-19 Penalty goal - Rory Kockott , France
70'Interesting introduction of Remi Tales for Camille Lopez, who has been the man of the match to this point for ours. Nigel Owens issues another warning to Wallabies after Will Skelton pinged for taking the jumper in the air. Clumsy more than anything but yet another fundamental error by an Australian player.
70'Player substituted - Camille Lopez , France
70'Substitute on - Remi Tales , France
70'Substitute on - Matt Hodgson , Australia
70'Player substituted - Sean McMahon , Australia
70'Substitute on - James Hanson , Australia
70'Player substituted - Saia Fainga'a , Australia
70'Player substituted - Nick Phipps , Australia
70'Substitute on - Will Genia , Australia
69'France win the lineout and go short through Rory Kockott and Teddy Thomas, but they fail to claim full advantage after a player had been taken in the air at the set-piece. Camille Lopez launches France inside Australian territory.
67'Australia continuing to struggle to make ground with ball in hand, but Bernard Foley launches a great kick from his own 22 deep into French territory.
66'Substitute on - Ben Alexander , Australia
66'Player substituted - Sekope Kepu , Australia
64'French defence continuing to hit Wallabies behind advantage line, but they were offside in previous phase. Bernard Foley kicks Wallabies inside French 22, but they concede the advantage with a short-arm free-kick for taking too long at the set-piece. France clear to halfway.
63'26-19 Penalty goal - Camille Lopez , France
62'France win a scrum penalty with a concerted shove. Michael Hooper totally detached on the set-piece.
62'Player substituted - James Slipper , Australia
62'Substitute on - Benn Robinson , Australia
61'Israel Folau spills an uncontested high ball and France are back on the front foot. Midfield scrum between 22 and 10 metres. Overhead footage of the scrum shows plenty of air between the Wallabies second-rows. Also too much space between Sekope Kepu and Saia Fainga'a as French drive through.
61'Substitute on - Quade Cooper , Australia
61'Player substituted - Joe Tomane , Australia
59'France rumble from the tail of the lineout only to concede a penalty at the maul for accidental offisde. Wallabies get out of jail.
58'Bernard Foley's clearing kick charged down by Rory Kockott and Joe Tomane can't collect the loose pill but does well to stay in play. Wallabies clear from ruck but France line, have lineout on 5m
57'Monster shove from the French pack, and they win a penalty. Camille Lopez puts the ball up to the Wallabies 22. Strong attacking position, but Rob Simmons steals the lineout.
57'Player substituted - Pascal Pape , France
57'Substitute on - Alexandre Flanquart , France
57'Substitute on - Xavier Chiocci , France
57'Player substituted - Alexandre Menini , France
56'French defence claims another victim as they continue to hit the Wallabies behind the advantage line and Rob Horne spills the ball out of contact. No advantage as Camille Lopez also knocks on so we have a French scrum.
55'Wallabies win a scrum penalty and Bernard Foley puts them into French territory.
54'Player substituted - Sebastien Tillous-Borde , France
54'Substitute on - Rory Kockott , France
54'23-19 Penalty goal - Bernard Foley , Australia
53'Deep kick-off again to Tevita Kuridrani who again is under no pressure and makes good ground back outside 22, but clearing kick fails to find touch and France back on attack through Scott Spedding and Thierry Dusautoir.
51'Nice little grubber through the line from Bernard Foley that tests the French defence. Good defence but penalised for offisde a couple of phases earlier. Nigel Owens had played advantage.
50'Australia go off the top and make good ground through Rob Horne and Sean McMahon, but they turn over the ball deep inside the 22.
50'Player substituted - Guilhem Guirado , France
50'Substitute on - Benjamin Kayser , France
50'Player substituted - James Horwill , Australia
50'Substitute on - Will Skelton , Australia
49'Another excellent kick-off chase from Australia, with Yann Huget collected deep inside his 22. France do well to re-order themselves before Camille Lopez clears from the pocket behind his tryline to the 10 metres.
49'23-16 Penalty goal - Camille Lopez , France
47'Sean McMahon penalised for a lifting tackle just after the whistle. Perhaps unlucky. Equally perhaps lucky not to have been carded, according to the Laws.
46'Strong start to the half from France, but Camille Lopez just didn't quiet have the distance, Pill drops under the black dot. Australia are gifting back the momentum they had late in the first half.
45'France effect a turnover in the following phase and Yann Hugey and Scott Spedding make half-breaks before Michael Hooper is penalised for a high tackle.
45'Substitute on - Rob Horne , Australia
45'Player substituted - Christian Leali'ifano , Australia
44'France unstructured from the kick-off before Camille Lopez launches deep to space where the bouncing ball catches Rob Horne out.
44'20-16 Penalty goal - Camille Lopez , France
42'Camille Lopez knocks on but we're back for a penalty after Michael Hooper was offiside.
41'Not the best scrum from France, but thgey get the ball out and Mathieu Bastareaud shows immediately why he's on with a bullocking run through two half-tackles. Gifted space after Wallabies halves each went for a hopeful intercept. Australia need better discipline in defence.
41'Substitute on - Mathieu Bastareaud , France
41'Player substituted - Alexandre Dumoulin , France
41'Substitute on - Uini Atonio , France
41'Player substituted - Nicolas Mas , France
41'17-16 End of first half
40'France kick off long to Tevita Kuridrani, who collects under no pressure, but Rob Simmons is then held up for a maul and France have a scrum in centre-field.
40'Australia have fought back strongly late in the piece, dominating possession and territory, with France gifting them penalties. France have looked solid, and very dangerous on the counter, and we're in for a good second half.
40'17-16 Start of second half
40'17-16 Penalty goal - Bernard Foley , Australia
37'Penalty to Australia for offside in French midfield. Good result for the tourists as they were simply going side to side.
37'17-13 Conversion - Bernard Foley , Australia
35'17-11 Try - Adam Ashley-Cooper , Australia
34'Australia win lineout on 22 at the back and Australia rumble from the back. Australia quiet the crowd with a super try from the drive. Good wide pass from Nick Phipps to Bernard Foley on short side, and the fly-half steps and offloads to Adam Ashley-Cooper for his 30th Test try. Ashley-Cooper bounces out of attempted tackle.
32'France steal the lineout and clear the ball, with Adam Ashley-Cooper felled on halfway. Penalty to Australia, though, as France leave feet at ruck.
31'France winning the contact, minimising errors, and executing when they need to. Deservedly leading well. Australia gifting territory and possession with errors, but the errors being forced by French. Good scrum from Australia, there, and they win a penalty that Bernard Foley roosts to the French 22 on the left.
30'17-6 Conversion - Camille Lopez , France
29'15-6 Try - Teddy Thomas , France
28'Individual brilliance from Teddy Thomas. Flat passes to the winger, who then steps inside covering defence (Leali'ifano and Ashley-Cooper get in each other's way), through the line, and skins Nick Phipps. All came from the midfield bomb. Great play from Thomas but poor from Australia.
27'France launch midfield bomb and Folau and Foley both leave the ball to the other. Oh dear. France back on the attack on 10m line.
26'Bernard Foley knocks on and France counter dangerously, Kick ahead but just too deep. Wallabies 22 drop.
25'French defence incredibly offensive, and felling Australia as soon as Wallabies have the ball.
24'Sebastien Tillous-Borde snipes down the short side and finds space, chips ahead but Joe Tomane does well to collect the ball. Danger defused.
23'Australia putting some phases together, but it's a little side to side and one out before Tevita Kuridrani knocks on in contact on left flank. Big hit from Alexandre Dumoulin. Australia not getting over the gainline right now as they're trying to go wide perhaps a little too early. We're paused as James Horwill gets treatment.
20'10-6 Penalty goal - Bernard Foley , Australia
19'Australia happy to be within four points given French 57% possession 58%/ territory 2-0 clean breaks, 4-0 defenders beaten, 2-0 offloads, 3-6 turnovers conceded, and 0-4 tackles missed.
17'10-3 Penalty goal - Camille Lopez , France
16'Bernard Foley kicks long again, and Australia collect the catcher - Yann Huget - once again on contact. Clearly have been working on the kick-off. Australia win the ensuing lineout and make ground through Kuridrani in midfield before they win a ruck penalty.
14'Australia clear but then France claim a sloppy lineout and toe through to have Wallabies under more pressure inside 22. Australia own worst enemy right now with their basic errors. French rumble through drives from the lineout. Make ground despite Australian counter-ruck before Wallabies pinged offside in midfield. Should be a gift three points. French halves looking good at the minute behind effecive and physical pack.
13'France go off their feet at the ruck to relieve the pressure on Australia at ruck from the lineout.
11'Good scrum from Wallabies but Folau spills the ball in first-phase contact, and France counter strongly as Camille Lopez breaks and kicks deep into Australian territory where Joe Tomane is forced to carry ball into touch.
11'7-3 Penalty goal - Bernard Foley , Australia
10'French go short with kick-off. Too short. Ball fails to go 10. But Yann Huget had space had it gone the 10.
9'7-0 Conversion - Camille Lopez , France
8'Australia kick off deep, and Michael Hooper leads a great chase to win a penalty after Sebastien Tillous-Borde was isolated in the contact. Good immediate counter punch from Australia.
7'5-0 Try - Sebastien Tillous-Borde , France
6'Sebastien Tillous-Borde opens the scoring second phase from the scrum. Too easy after Tevita Kuridrani gifts space for a half-break in first phase.
5'Wallabies win the lineout but James Horwill spills the ball in contact and France butcher the opportunity from the turnover. Still, they have a scrum for Horwill's knock on.
4'Great attack from France after Camille Lopez had found Yann Huget in space with a kick pass. Huget bounced out of a poor tackle and fed Scott Spedding but the fullback is forced into touch.
3'Bernard Foley pinged for not releasing in the ruck. May or may not have been unlucky, but he got himself isolated and all but held up for a maul in the tackle. No real complaints.
2'Strong scrum from Wallabies, but France able to clear with Damien Chouly making space to clear off the back of the set piece.
1'Key starts from first half: Metres run with ball: France 162 - 112 Australia Clean breaks: France 5-1 Australia Takes made / missed: France 70 / 5 - 32 / 8 Australia Penalties conceded: France 6-2 Australia
1'Strong start from Australia. Bernard Foley kicks deep, and pin France back. Clearing kick charged down and Rob Simmons crosses the stripe but he's knocked on collecting the pill.
1'Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Test between France and Australia at Stade de France. France our after "triple revenge" after being swept 3-0 Down Under in June, while the Wallabies are hoping to take another step forward after defeating Wales in slightly unconvincing fashion to open Michael Cheika's Test account as coach. So much has happened in Australian rugby, and to the Wallabies, since their impressive outing to defeat France in Sydney that you're almost hard pressed to remember it, but they were mighty impressive. Australia have won eight of past nine Tests between the teams, but France monstered them in the latest Paris fixture in 2012. This could be a cracking game, particularly if France "turn up". Plenty of passion from the French players and fans in singing Le Marseillais. #Pumped
