Match Commentary

81'+136-20 End of second half
80'Argentina putting the ball through hands again as the siren sounds, only to concede a penalty for failing to release. Bernard Foley kicks the ball into touch, and that's all she wrote. Australia deserved winners and now second on The Rugby Championship, and they still have much to work on as the look to play South Africa in pretoria for the first of eight consecutive away games. Thanks for your company.
78'Wallabies on attack in the final minutes, with Quade Cooper running straight, but Argentina effect another turnover and work themselves back into the hosts' territory.
75'Multiple phases from Argentina again comes to nothing before a knock on gifts Australia possession.
75'Key score there from Reece Hodge, as Australia now out past two converted tries once again.
75'36-20 Penalty goal - Reece Hodge , Australia
74'Substitute on - Tevita Kuridrani , Australia
74'Player substituted - Samu Kerevi , Australia
73'Great work from Bernard Foley in midfield, after a strong run from Lopeti Timani, the centre taking the ball into contact and feeding Reece Hodge on his outside with a lovely offload. Australia awarded a penalty to boot.
72'33-20 Conversion - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
72'Substitute on - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
72'Player substituted - Facundo Isa , Argentina
72'33-18 Try - Facundo Isa , Argentina
71'The ball has touched the line; just depends whether there is a double movement from Fecundo Isa.
71'Argentina rumble a drive from the back of a lineout, and the offcials are checking footsage "no try no try".
68'Lopeti Timani, on debut, joins the ruck incorrectly, and Australia now have conceded 14 penalties; that's a notable number in anyone's language, and the fact that Argentina have not threatened more on the back of that is an indictment on the visitors.
68'Player substituted - Dean Mumm , Australia
68'Substitute on - Lopeti Timani , Australia
68'Substitute on - Nick Phipps , Australia
68'Player substituted - Will Genia , Australia
68'Yellow card - Quade Cooper , Australia
68'Player substituted - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
68'Substitute on - Gabriel Ascarate , Argentina
66'Quade Cooper in trouble. Tackles Nicolas Sanchez without the ball and without arms.
66'Argentina kick-off fails to go 10 metres, and the Pumas really are looking sorry and dejected right now; they'd have fancied this game when they arrived in Perth, and they have simply not been good enough in any facet of play.
66'Player substituted - Pablo Matera , Argentina
66'Substitute on - Marcos Kremer , Argentina
66'Substitute on - Enrique Pieretto Heiland , Argentina
66'Player substituted - Ramiro Herrera , Argentina
65'33-13 Conversion - Bernard Foley , Australia
64'Slow Pumas ball from a ruck, and Ramiro Herrera, head down, throws a dumb blind offload to Tatafu Polota-Nau; the Wallabies hooker breaks up field and three phases later Quade Cooper delivers a sublime inside ball to Michael Hooper to canter unopposed under the posts.
64'31-13 Try - Michael Hooper , Australia
62'Substitute on - Lucas Noguera Paz , Argentina
62'Player substituted - Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro , Argentina
62'Player substituted - Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino , Argentina
62'Substitute on - Matias Orlando , Argentina
62'Substitute on - Martin Landajo , Argentina
62'Player substituted - Tomas Cubelli , Argentina
61'Israel Folau fails to collects a short ball into a gaping hole from Quade Cooper, and it's just not happening for either team. Plenty of attacking intent but precious little execution. What execution there has been has come from Australia, in the opening 12 minutes, as that's why they lead by 13 points.
61'Pablo Matera effeects a wonderful turnover at a midfield ruck from an Australian lineout, but Argentina fail to take maximum advantage when they spill the ball forwards two passes later.
61'Player substituted - Adam Coleman , Australia
61'Substitute on - Rory Arnold , Australia
61'Player substituted - Sekope Kepu , Australia
61'Substitute on - Tom Robertson , Australia
61'Player substituted - Scott Sio , Australia
61'Substitute on - James Slipper , Australia
60'Distinct lack of atmosphere in the ground now, and everyone in nib Stadium is looking for a lift from either or both benches.
57'Fecundo Isa makes a break inside the Australian 22, but he's one-out under pressure from Sean Mcmahon and the Wallabies clear through Reece Hodge, although the ball fails to find touch.
56'Australia win a scrum against the head, and Samu Kerevi makes a break up the blindside; Israel Folau then throws the ball to no-one.
52'Bernard Foley misses the conversion, hitting the post, but he gets a second kick as the Pumas charged the kick early. He pulls the second kick left, and Argentina still within two scores.
52'Sean Mcmahon makes a huge bust in broken play after the lineout, beating four players, and Will Genia dummies his way over from the ensuing ruck.
52'26-13 Try - Will Genia , Australia
50'Australia have an attacking lineout on the Argentina 22 after the Pumas collapsed a scrum. Take the ball off the top of the lineout but can't clear to the backs.
49'Great work from Reece Hodge defending first phase for Quade Cooper from a lineout, keeping the Argentina player off the ground to effect a maul and a turnover. Hodge is certainly improving with each game for Australia.
49'Player substituted - Stephen Moore , Australia
49'Substitute on - Tatafu Polota-Nau , Australia
47'Scything break by Will Genia from the back of a midfield scrum, showing a rare burst of pace, but the decision to chip kick ahead rather than looking for support ...
47'Player substituted - Agustin Creevy , Argentina
47'Substitute on - Julian Montoya , Argentina
46'Agustin Creevy leaving the field with what lloks to be a shoulder injury. Argentina will hope his absence doesn't affect the Pumas as Adriaan Strauss's affected the Springboks in the earlier game.
45'Australia have produced little to nothing now since the 12th minute, when Will Genia crossed for their third try, and they might feel a little concern now Argentina are back within two scores given the amount of defensive work they've had to produce.
45'Substitute on - Leonardo Senatore , Argentina
45'Player substituted - Juan Manuel Leguizamon , Argentina
45'Substitute on - Sean McMahon , Australia
45'Player substituted - James Slipper , Australia
44'Argentina have finally damaged Australia, on the back of a great break from Joaquin Tuculet after the fullback cut inside Bernard Foley first phase from a scrum. The backs put the ball through hands and Santiago Cordero cuts back inside Quade Cooper on the right wing to score.
44'21-13 Conversion - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
44'21-11 Try - Santiago Cordero , Argentina
42'Adam Coleman knocks on under a heavy hit from Agustin Creevy, and both teams need to improve their execution.
41'Again Australia trying hard, but going side to side without ever threatening to damage the Wallabies' defensive line.
41'We're back underway in Perth, with Argentina again on the front foot in Australian territory.
41'21-6 End of first half
40'Another strong push from the Argentine scrum against seven men, to no avail as Australia rustle the ball over the line to finish the half. Australia made an electric start but they've since been firmly on the back foot without, perhaps, Argentina threatening to damage them as the game lost it's shape, structure and rhythm in the second 20 minutes. Wel'll be back the other side of the break.
40'21-6 Start of second half
37'Argentina through 10 phases without making any forward ground; again going lateral before an occasional half-break before an error; knock on and Australia roost the ball clear without finding space or the sideline which means Argentina are back on the attack until a forward pass.
37'Substitute on - Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias , Argentina
37'Player substituted - Gabriel Ascarate , Argentina
36'Strong run fron Facundo Isa after collecting the ball at the base of the seven-man Australian scrum, and Argentina on the atack.
36'Substitute on - James Slipper , Australia
36'Player substituted - David Pocock , Australia
34'Argentina fail to collect the re-start but Australia fail to capitalise with Sirael Folau running left passing to no one; Australia now on halfway after being on 22.
34'21-6 Penalty goal - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
33'Yellow card - Scott Sio , Australia
32'Scott Sio penalised for tackling a man without the ball. Symptomatic of the territorial pressure Australia are under
32'The game has just started to drift with a lack of pattern.
32'Player substituted - Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias , Argentina
32'Substitute on - Gabriel Ascarate , Argentina
29'Argentina, as in most games, are playing with abandon in trying to move the ball but you get the impression they actually need some structure against the better opponents
27'Creevy misses the mark in a lineout, and Australia break through ball in hand before Quade Cooper at outside centre is pulled down. Genia launches a box kick to clear Australian territory but two phases later Australia effect a turnover to regain possession.
26'Nicolas Sanchez hits the left upright with his penalty; the visitors can't afford to leave points on the pitch.
25'Quicker ball movement from Argentina, with the ball being put in front of the back to run on to, and Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias is almost through a gap just now. Australia have made 50-11 tackles to show the pressure they're under.
23'Agustin Creevy, like last week, is strong in the tight for Argentina.
23'21-3 Penalty goal - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
20'Argentina have worked themselves into the game in terms of territory and possession, but they're not threatening the line; they're very lateral when they're not going backwards, very different to the way they put the ball in front of the runner against New Zealand in Hamilton last week.
17'Argentina struggling for direction in offence, and making poor decisions that relieve the pressure on Australia.
16'Handbags outside the touchline, leading Wayne Barnes to ask both captains to warn their players against running in to the "melee".
15'Argentina win the ensing linout but knock the ball on, and Australia run the ball out of their 22 before going into touch.
15'Pumas go through more phases almost on the try line without looking likely to cross before Scott Sio concedes a penalty for being offside.
14'Sekope Kepu penalised for a high tackle and Argentina have an attacking lineout on Australia's 22; Pumas rumble from the back of the set-piece and set up a succession of drives before Juan Manuel Leguizamon is held up under the posts.
13'21-0 Conversion - Bernard Foley , Australia
12'Three converted tries to Australia in 12 minutes, and this should be all over.
12'19-0 Try - Will Genia , Australia
11'Will Genia monsters Nicolas Sanchez in a midfield ball-and-all tackle; the ball comes loose, Genia toes ahead, collects the ball under pressure from Tomas Cubelli and slides over next to the posts.
10'Quade Cooper, Bernard Foley and Israel Folau combine to cause danger midfield on attack for Australia, but the fullback fails to release.
10'Argentina penalised for early engagement in the scrum -- for the second time in as many scrums. Really poor start for the tourists.
9'Argentina under real pressure behind the gainline, particularly from phase play, and they're losing ground most times they have the ball.
9'Fine start for Australia.
9'14-0 Conversion - Bernard Foley , Australia
8'Super try Australia first phase from the lineout. Wiil Genia passes to Quade Cooper who delivers a no-look pass back inside for Dane Haylett-Petty to score on his home ground. Samu Kerevi's role as the dummy runner outside Cooper was key.
8'12-0 Try - Dane Haylett-Petty , Australia
7'Drop goal-missed
6'Nicolas Sanchez goes for a drop goal but Michael Hooper charges it down; poor option from Argentina.
6'Australia awarded a scrum penalty, and they run through Will Genia, Quade Cooper and Samu Kerevi but concede a penalty as they get isolated and Argentina have a attacking lineout inside the 22.
5'Nine phases for Argentina but it's all a bit lateral and non-threatening before a knock-on at the back of a ruck.
4'Strong work from Dean Mumm to cart the ball outside the Australian 22, but Argentina are back on the attack putting the ball through phases.
3'7-0 Conversion - Bernard Foley , Australia
1'Foley collects the loose kick and maintains possession; the Wallabies put the ball trough hands and Michael Hooper does brilliantly to create space for Samu Kerevi to score in the right corner. Fantastic start for Australia.
1'We're under way in Perth, through bernard Foley in his head bandages, and Argentina fail to clear their lines.

1'The teams are out on the pitch in Perth for the second Rugby Championship Test of the day. All Blacks always a tough task to follow, but we can hope. Time for the anthems.
1'Hello everybody. Welcome to our Live Commentary of the Rugby Championship Test between Australia?s Wallabies and Argentina?s Pumas at nib Stadium in Perth.

Australia returned to the winner's circle last week, defeating South Africa after three defeats by England and consecutive Bledisloe Cuo losses to New Zealand, but still there seems to be a negative aura over them and we said in our Scrum5 podcast that their season still hangs by a thread ahead of this game in Perth. Former All Blacks coach Graham Henry, meanwhile, said they were the worst Wallabies team he had seen.

Argentina arrived in Australia having split their Tests with South Africa before pushing the All Blacks for 60 minutes in Hamilton. They will certainly test the Wallabies if they repeat their effort from last week and execute just a little better, but Sam Bruce is still tipping a seven-point victory for the hosts having said after their defeat of the Springboks that they needed to be more patient.
1'5-0 Try - Samu Kerevi , Australia
