Match Commentary

81'+113-32 Try - Ben Spencer , Saracens
81'+213-34 End of second half
81'+213-34 Conversion - Alex Goode , Saracens
80'Exeter cannot salvage anything, and infact Saracens put the icing on the cake with an interception try from Spencer infront of the posts. The two points are added.
A deserved win for the visitors who have reset well after their success last year. Exeter will lament far too many unenforced errors in the attacking third - in contrast Saracens were ruthless.
Exeter lost only to Saracens at home in the Aviva Premiership last season, and that result has repeated itself. The Chiefs will now hope the rest of their form repeats itself.
Full time here - Exeter 13, Saracens 34.
80'Exeter playing on in the hope of salvaging a losing bonus point.
79'Player substituted - Mike Ellery , Saracens
79'Substitute on - Richard Wigglesworth , Saracens
78'Stoppage for an injury to Ellery here sustained in attempting to score.
78'Saracens could have had a fifth try as Schalk Brits affects a turnover and Mike Ellery almost scores in the corner, but under pressure froma tackler loses the ball just short of the line.
78'Once again Saracens absorb a ton of pressure as Exeter goes through the phases nicely, the a big hit from Vunipola leads to a turnover from Brown. Ashton kicks the ball into touch downfield and once again Exeter promise amounts to nothing.
78'Player substituted - Marcelo Bosch , Saracens
78'Substitute on - Nick Tompkins , Saracens
76'Exeter have had far more of the possession and territory in the match, and Saracens has mad more than twice as many tackles, but the visitors have absorbed pressure very well.
75'Exeter trying everything, including running the ball from their own line, to get a try for a losing bonus point, but Saracens look in total control here.
73'Saracens look good for a 12th win in a row, 14 points ahead and we are well into the last ten minutes here.
72'Doyle has indeed warned Saracens that the next penalty sees that man go in the bin. Exeter with the ball in the visitors half, but in a metaphor for their afternoon concede a soft penalty that allows Saracens to clear their lines.
70'13-27 Conversion - Gareth Steenson , Exeter Chiefs
69'Exeter FINALLY have scored! Saracens concede their first try of the season, Luke Cowan-Dickie bundles over. Saracens consistently conceding penalties - 5 within those two spells following the catch and drive lineouts. Referee JP Doyle will probably bear this in mind in the final ten minutes or so.
69'Substitute on - Jack Yeandle , Exeter Chiefs
69'Player substituted - Luke Cowan-Dickie , Exeter Chiefs
69'11-27 Try - Luke Cowan-Dickie , Exeter Chiefs
67'Exeter have a good go at scoring through the forwards but cannot manage it. held up just short. The Exeter scrum has been going well and they are 5m out now and need a big one.
67'Player substituted - Alex Lozowski , Saracens
67'Substitute on - Mike Ellery , Saracens
67'Player substituted - Schalk Burger , Saracens
67'Substitute on - Kelly Brown , Saracens
67'Substitute on - Richard Barrington , Saracens
67'Player substituted - Mako Vunipola , Saracens
65'Exeter have finally found some momentum. A driving maul has taken them through most of the Saracens 22 and they now have a lineout 5m out.
64'Superb work from Sarries to extend their lead. Billy Vunipola picks and goes from the back of the scrum, beats two and then offloads brilliantly just as he was going to ground.
That pass finds Jackson Wray, who finished in the right corner. Goode misses the kick to the left by a long way ut Saracens will be delighted to have the bonus points.
Saracens have been outstanding in playing the conditions, defence and attack - a strong all-round performance.
63'Substitute on - Ben Spencer , Saracens
63'Player substituted - Richard Wigglesworth , Saracens
62'6-27 Try - Jackson Wray , Saracens
61'Steenson comes on and Slade has moved into midfield to try and unlock the Saracens defence. Before doing that though they've got to prevent Saracens extending their lead. The visitors on top here.
61'Player substituted - Sam Hill , Exeter Chiefs
61'Substitute on - Gareth Steenson , Exeter Chiefs
61'Player substituted - Will Chudley , Exeter Chiefs
61'Substitute on - Dave Lewis , Exeter Chiefs
59'Saracens haven't made the unenforced errors Exeter have, and a lovely kick from Goode adds the conversion.
Goode was kicking from the left touchline and curled it in using the wind and his right boot to good effect.
59'6-22 Conversion - Alex Goode , Saracens
58'Saracens dominating territory and the ball as they have done for much of this half, and have their rewards.
Sharp hands from the visitors allow Maitland to score his second try in the corner, after space was opened up by excellent basic work from Saracens.
58'6-20 Try - Sean Maitland , Saracens
56'The eventual result of Itoje's good work was Saracens winning another kickable penalty for Goode, but this time the full-back pushes the ball narrowly wide to his right.
56'Substitute on - Dave Dennis , Exeter Chiefs
56'Player substituted - Julian Salvi , Exeter Chiefs
55'Maro Itoje showing his class once again today. He's made 14 tacklers, more than anyone else, and just completed a quite brilliant take from a kick by Slade that had snow on it.
55'Goode slots it, the breeze helping it through relatively comfortably. The gap is now more than a converted try. Exeter need to cut out the errors first if they want to make something happen here.
54'Player substituted - Jim Hamilton , Saracens
54'Substitute on - Michael Rhodes , Saracens
54'6-15 Penalty goal - Alex Goode , Saracens
53'Scrum penalty against Exeter gives Saracens a long-range penalty. Alex Goode with the kick to take the lead to nine...
53'Another unenforced error costs the Chiefs, this time a knock on. JP Doyle is lecturing both front rows as he's not happy with the standard of scrummaging.
Meanwhile Bristol have their first try at home in the Premiership, though they still trail 25-10 to Northampton.
52'Substitute on - Alec Hepburn , Exeter Chiefs
52'Player substituted - Ben Moon , Exeter Chiefs
51'Exeter have been starved of the ball for ten minutes, then when finally getting a decent chance their lienout is penalised for early lifting. Frustrating little things costing the Chiefs currently.
51'73% of the second half has been played between the Chiefs 22 and the halfway line, and 25% has been in the Exeter 22. All Saracens after the break but a scrum penalty against them allows Exeter to create some kind of attacking platform.
51'Player substituted - Jamie George , Saracens
51'Substitute on - Schalk Brits , Saracens
50'Substitute on - Mitch Lees , Exeter Chiefs
50'Player substituted - Damian Welch , Exeter Chiefs
50'Substitute on - Harry Williams , Exeter Chiefs
50'Player substituted - Greg Holmes , Exeter Chiefs
49'Two Exeter players do JUST enough to get Vunipola out just in time, superb defence!
49'Has Mako Vunipola scored in the corner? Has the pressure told?
48'Saracens are dominating the contact area and getting quick ball, allowing them to constantly get over the gain, line. Exeter struggling here. You feel not making the most of that man advantage is going to come back to haunt them.
46'Saracens have made 102 tackles in this match compared to only 40 by Exeter, which reflects just how the Chiefs had the better of the first half but couldn't convert it into points.
46'Saracens dominating this half so far, when Exeter have the ball they are going nowhere then trying to kick their way out, and then the ball keeps coming back at them.
44'Wrigglesworth makes an impact instantly with a brilliant knock right into the corner. It has all been all Saracens after the break so far.
41'We're back underway here at Sandy (or should I say windy) Park. Exeter have to deal with the wind this half, and Saracens have run the ball through the hands nicely to bring the clock down. That means Wrigglesworth is back on with the visitors in the box seat.
41'6-12 End of first half
40'Exeter had a huge amount of chances to score but just couldn't take them. Saracens have the lead, and the wind with them in the second period. It's going to take a big effort from Exeter to turn this around.
40'An effective and determined first-half from Saracens against the wind, who will be delighted to be 12-6 ahead at the break.
40'Player substituted - Petrus Du Plessis , Saracens
40'Substitute on - Juan Figallo , Saracens
40'6-12 Start of second half
39'Exeter concede a soft penalty from the scrum and that allows Saracens to get out of their own third.
38'Max Bodilly looks like he is from the resulting move but excellent try-saving tackle by Alex Lozowksi. Sarries surviving with a man down so far.
36'What a run from Max Bodilly! He beats three defenders running straight up the middle to once again get the Chiefs into point-scoring territory.
However, yet again Exeter cannot convert it into points. A knock on leads to a Saracens scrum, but Exeter turn that over!
35'Saracens give away a free-kick from the scrum and Exeter again look impressive through the hands, but having got into the 22 they once again cannot make the most of the opportunity.
34'Alex Goode will move into scrum-half to cover the yellow card, but puts the re-start straight out on the full. Not a good start for Saracens to life a man down. Six points in it now and the home crowd unsurprisingly into full voice.
33'It's a yellow card. Wrigglesworth goes in the bin for a trip, good work from referee JP Doyle in taking the time to look at the incident properly.
33'6-12 Penalty goal - Henry Slade , Exeter Chiefs
32'Excellent playmaking work from Devoto and Slade gives Exeter more territory that results in another penalty. Very kickable.
The TMO is having a look at an apparent trip from Wrigglesworth on Henry Slade.
32'Yellow card - Richard Wigglesworth , Saracens
31'Exeter have been excellent in the last ten minutes but playing with the wind they need something to show for it before the break.
29'Exeter huffing and puffing but just cannot blow the Saracens house down to score. They've got a penalty in front of the sticks though, and have got themselves on the board.
29'Substitute on - Damian Welch , Exeter Chiefs
29'Player substituted - Mitch Lees , Exeter Chiefs
29'3-12 Penalty goal - Henry Slade , Exeter Chiefs
27'A scrum 5m out after the Chiefs were just short of scoring, this is their 4th visit to the 22 can they come away with something?
26'Exeter have come back into the game in the last ten minutes and have fallen JUST short of scoring a try here.
25'Interestingly the referee has warned Saracens captain Brad Barritt, as after that turnover Sarries player rushed in to congratulate Hamilton.
The referee was not happy with it because opposition players were still on the floor, and gave a stern warning.
23'The Chiefs start building the pressure again but it comes to nothing thanks to an excellent turnover from Jim Hamilton.
23'It comes to NOTHING though! Exeter will be thoroughly annoyed to come away with nothing. Turnover almost right under the posts - Sarries clear but the Chiefs have the ball again inside the visitors half.
In the other game Northampton lead 18-3 against Bristol at Ashton Gate.
23'Substitute on - Mitch Lees , Exeter Chiefs
23'Player substituted - Damian Welch , Exeter Chiefs
21'Eexter are 12-0 down and need a response, and are finally having a good spell of play, some good work from the forwards around the fringes to drive them deep into the Saracens 22. It's 16 phases and counting....
19'Marcelo Bosch was a key part of that try, lovely quick hands laving Maitland just about enough time to touch down. Neat finish from the Scotland winger, whose settling well into life at new club Saracens after moving from London Irish
18'Saracens have scored! They lead 12-0 with a kick to come despite having the wind against them! The pack executed the lineout drive well and then some lovely hands allow Sean Maitland to score in the left corner.
18'0-12 Try - Sean Maitland , Saracens
16'Saracens have looked dangerous whenever they've got the ball into wide areas and once again they make significant metres in the channels. The pressure resultants in Turner conceding a penalty. Sarries go for the corner, danger here....
15'Substitute on - Max Bodilly , Exeter Chiefs
15'Player substituted - Phil Dollman , Exeter Chiefs
14'What on earth is Billy Vunipola doing! The number 8 catches a kick deep inside his own 22 on the touchline, and throws a no look pass! It goes ten metres forward but thankfully for him the resultant scrum comes to nothing, Luke Cowan-Dickie penalised.
13'Maro Itoje has won all 27 matches he has started for club and country, will that run continue today? The young forward is penalised on the floor here but it comes to nothing.
12'Slade misses to the left as he looked at it, just sliced ever so slightly.
It was good work from the referee to spot the penalty, as Alex Goode was seeking a break out and the block from a retreating Saracens player was only slight.
12'Player substituted - Nick Tompkins , Saracens
12'Substitute on - Brad Barritt , Saracens
12'Substitute on - Don Armand , Exeter Chiefs
12'Player substituted - Dave Dennis , Exeter Chiefs
11'A few scrappy minutes as both teams struggle to get going. However, a soft penalty for an illegal bloke gives Henry Slade a chance to get on the board.
8'Exeter finally get some ball in the Saracens half but it doesn't last long, Saracens on top in the early stages.
6'Alex Goode converts the extra two after Lozowski injured himself in scoring. The fly-half is ok now though.
6'0-7 Conversion - Alex Goode , Saracens
5'The grunt up front from the forwards put Sarries comfortably inside the 22. That set the platform, but Alex Lozowski used some brilliant individual skill to score! A big hand off against Sam Hill and he sprints through to score.
5'0-5 Try - Alex Lozowski , Saracens
5'Substitute on - Dave Dennis , Exeter Chiefs
5'Player substituted - Don Armand , Exeter Chiefs
5'Player substituted - Brad Barritt , Saracens
5'Substitute on - Nick Tompkins , Saracens
4'Brilliant work from Saracens, try time!
2'Marcelo Bosch takes the kick but drags it BADLY! The kick misses to the left. Saracens chose to play into the wind in the first half and it's already clear that the breeze is going to make a big impact on this match.
1'We're off and underway here, and after some pleasing hands from Exeter they concede a penalty on the floor due to Parling not releasing. Saracens have a kick a fair way out and with the wind again them, but it's a straight one.
1'KEY BATTLES
Plenty of key battles across the pitch to watch today, but here are three in particular:
Luke Cowan-Dickie vs Jamie George at number 2
Geoff Parling vs Maro Itoje at number 4
Thomas Waldrom vs Billy Vunipola at number 8
Sam Hill vs Brad Barritt at inside centre
1'TEAM NEWS
Exeter are still without England winger Jack Nowell and flanker Dave Ewers. Second row Geoff Parling captains the Chiefs in what is a repeat of the Premiership final from last season. Saracens are unchanged from last week's victory over Worcester, meaning Alex Lozowksi continues at fly-half with Owen Farrell still not fully fit. A game with international players all over the pitch, we're set for a cracker!
1'Hello and welcome to ESPN's live text commentary on this afternoon's Aviva Premiership match at Sandy Park. I'm Michael McCann and thanks for joining us for Exeter Chiefs vs Saracens. It's a 3pm kick-off - Saracens have won the last three encounters between these sides, will that run continue?
1'0-0 Start of first half
