Match Commentary

81'19-23 End of second half
80'
80'That's fulltime and the Pumas have won it! The Wallabies had one last crack and went wide through Israel Folau, but a huge tackle forced the ball free with an unmarked Bernard Foley outside him. What a win for the Pumas on a crazy night of Test rugby!
79'Scrum Australia. The Pumas make a has of the lineout and knock-on, giving Australia one last chance to rescue this one.
78'Lineout Argentina. The visitors could shut it down from here as Lukhan Tui spills a ball into touch.
77'It's over! The Pumas lead by four with three minutes to play.
77'19-23 Penalty goal - Emiliano Boffelli , Argentina
76'Penalty Argentina. Emiliano Boffelli will line up a shot from just beyond halfway as Folau Fainga'a is pinged for not coming through the gate. This is a huge kick for the visitors.
75'Player substituted - Jeronimo de la Fuente , Argentina
75'Substitute on - Juan Cruz Mallia , Argentina
74'Penalty Argentina. It continues. After Dane Haylett-Petty slips in behind the line the support is too slow and the Pumas win a penalty with a brilliant position over the ball.
73'Penalty Australia. This is proving a topsy-turvy few minutes as the Pumas botch the lineout and then give a penalty away for tackling Nick Phipps without the ball.
72'Penalty Argentina. The visitors get the decision at scrum time and will attack from 30 metres out from the Wallabies' line.
71'Another spilled pass from the Wallabies as Foley and Haylett-Petty get mixed up in midfield. Sekope Kepu had made a nice half-break the phase before, but it again came to nothing as has been the story tonight.
70'Player substituted - Marika Koroibete , Australia
70'Substitute on - Jack Maddocks , Australia
70'Player substituted - Guido Petti , Argentina
70'Substitute on - Matias Alemanno , Argentina
70'Substitute on - Nick Phipps , Australia
70'Player substituted - Will Genia , Australia
69'The Wallabies again fail to capitalise as poor handling lets them down once more. The humid conditions maybe playing a part, but the ball handling from both teams has been poor tonight.
68'Substitute on - Juan Manuel Leguizamon , Argentina
68'Player substituted - Marcos Kremer , Argentina
68'Player substituted - Santiago Medrano , Argentina
68'Substitute on - Juan Pablo Zeiss , Argentina
68'Substitute on - Santiago Garcia Botta , Argentina
68'Player substituted - Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro , Argentina
68'Player substituted - Agustin Creevy , Argentina
68'Substitute on - Julian Montoya , Argentina
68'Player substituted - Rory Arnold , Australia
68'Substitute on - Izack Rodda , Australia
67'Scrum Australia. The Wallabies get a little lucky as they lose a turnover but then see the Pumas knock on. The hosts will have the chance to attack from just outside the Pumas' 22.
65'No good. Hodge doesn't have the distance this time around and the Pumas continue to lead by one.
64'Penalty Australia. Sanchez's miss is compounded by a lazy Pumas player who gives away a penalty for offside. Reece Hodge will line up a long-range penalty from 52 metres as a result.
63'That's a bad miss from Sanchez. I wonder will they live to regret it?
62'Penalty Argentina. Sanchez will line up a shot at three points as a Pumas player is tackled off the ball. The game has hit a bit of a lull here, both teams struggling with their fluency and ball-handling.
59'Player substituted - Scott Sio , Australia
59'Substitute on - Sekope Kepu , Australia
59'Substitute on - Rory Arnold , Australia
59'Player substituted - Izack Rodda , Australia
58'Scrum Argentina. A long sequence of play comes to an end with a knock-on from Israel Folau. The Wallabies winger flew high brilliantly for a high ball but in trying to pass quickly, he spills the ball.
56'Foley can't add the extras, though, leaving the Pumas up by one.
55'Try time Wallabies! The hosts go over out wide through Dane Haylett-Petty. After sucking in a few defenders from the rolling maul, the Wallabies go wide through Foley and then Hodge, who finds Haylett-Petty with the final pass.
55'19-20 Try - Dane Haylett-Petty , Australia
53'Penalty Australia. Israel Folau is caught in a high tackle and while Lacey looks to play advantage, there is none coming. Bernard Foley, on for Toomua, kicks to the corner.
53'Player substituted - Allan Alaalatoa , Australia
53'Substitute on - Taniela Tupou , Australia
52'The Wallabies can't make the most of another opportunity as Lukhan Tui spills a pass just as they were starting to look dangerous. The clearance from the Pumas isn't that good though and they'll have the chance to redeem themselves.
50'Player substituted - Matt Toomua , Australia
50'Substitute on - Bernard Foley , Australia
49'Knock on Australia. The Wallabies can't make the most of a poor clearance from the kick-off, spilling the ball from the lineout. It looked like a tough call, though, as the Pumas player seemed to interfere in the air just as the Wallabies did a few moments earlier.
48'It's good, the Pumas now lead by six.
48'14-20 Penalty goal - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
47'Penalty Argentina. The Pumas get a penalty after the Wallabies are ruled to have interfered in the air at the lineout. Sanchez to line up a shot at three points.
47'Substitute on - Adam Coleman , Australia
47'Player substituted - Rory Arnold , Australia
46'A promising sequence from the Pumas comes to an end with an ordinary kick that's fielded by Folau. The Wallabies winger fails to find much of a clearance from the mark, and the visitors will attack from close range.
44'Player substituted - Pete Samu , Australia
44'Substitute on - Ned Hanigan , Australia
43'No try! The Pumas have been denied for a second time tonight; the Wallabies get lucky again. The visitors' back-three are an absolute joy to watch, though.
42'Hang on, we're checking the final pass upstairs!
42'Try time Argentina! What a start for the Pumas as they score an opportunist try inside two minutes. It's Emiliano Boffelli who finishes it after an ordinary looking kick found space; winger Bautista Delguy throwing a pass back inside that found Boffelli.
41'And we're back underway for the second half.
41'Player substituted - Tatafu Polota-Nau , Australia
41'Substitute on - Folau Fainga'a , Australia
41'+214-17 End of first half
40'
40'That's it, though, the Pumas tap kick and boot the ball into touch. It's going to be a dramatic second half you get the feeling.
40'Tempers are starting to fire on the Gold Coast as referee Lacey blows a penalty for the Pumas after the halftime siren. What looked like a great Wallabies scrum was ruled to be illegal by Lacey, before a number of players came together for a minor scrap.
40'14-17 Start of second half
39'Knock-on Australia. The Wallabies are battling from the lineout, as Pocock and Polota-Nau get mixed up and spill what should have been a simple transfer.
38'A great kick from Reece Hodge puts the Wallabies deep into the Pumas' 22, albeit after a helter-skelter shift across the paddock. The Pumas are able to clear, though, giving the Wallabies the last chance to attack before halftime.
37'14-17 Conversion - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
37'Substitute on - Allan Alaalatoa , Australia
37'Player substituted - Taniela Tupou , Australia
36'Try time Argentina! Bautista Delguy is in for the Wallabies after a break from Pablo Matera in midfield. There were some weak tackles from the Wallabies but Delguy still had plenty to do when he picked up the loose pass. The winger showed his supreme footwork, though, to skin Dane Haylett-Petty and cut back inside for the try.
36'14-15 Try - Bautista Delguy , Argentina
35'That's poor from the Wallabies. Having lost two straight throws, Polota-Nau has been pinged for one not straight.
35'Sanchez fails to get much ground on the clearance though, but the Wallabies again can't win the lineout. Rinse, repeat!
33'A brilliant kick from Toomua sees the Wallabies deep inside the Pumas' 22. Australia can attack from the lineout, but they can't win it. Pressure off for the Pumas.
33'Player substituted - Ramiro Moyano , Argentina
33'Substitute on - Bautista Ezcurra , Argentina
33'Player substituted - Matias Alemanno , Argentina
33'Substitute on - Tomas Lavanini , Argentina
32'So close for Argentina! After Israel Folau slips a brilliant ball back inside to Genia, the Wallabies halfback can't find Kurtley Beale. The Pumas break downfield through Moyano from the turnover, the winger only denied by a brilliant tackle from Pocock. The play breaks down the next phase from a forward pass but upon a TMO review, the Wallabies get a penalty for a lifting tackle on Pocock when the Wallabies had possession.
31'We're going upstairs to check a potential try for the Pumas as Sanchez crosses in the corner. It's touch and go, but winger Ramiro Moyano is ruled to have brushed the touchline by the barest of margins. It was a brilliant break from the winger, but Genia just did enough with the covering tackle.
30'Player substituted - Allan Alaalatoa , Australia
30'Substitute on - Taniela Tupou , Australia
29'Penalty Australia. David Pocock produces a classic breakdown turnover to earn the Wallabies a penalty. A real skipper's play that.
28' The Wallabies were happy with Folau's effort, that's for sure!
28'Scrum Australia. The Pumas managed to get the Wallabies backpedalling from the maul, but it goes to ground and there is a little knock-on on the floor. The Wallabies will breathe a sigh of relied.
27'Penalty Argentina. The Pumas get the decision from Lacey as the Wallabies pull down a rolling maul. The visitors kick for touch and will attack from just outside the Wallabies' 22.
26'The hosts can't do much with the opportunity again as Folau gets jammed and they run out of room through Reece Hodge on the touchline. They just look to be trying a bit too much at the moment, Australia.
25'Substitute on - Matias Alemanno , Argentina
25'Player substituted - Tomas Lavanini , Argentina
24'Scrum Australia. After losing possession and being forced to double back to clean up a Pumas kick, a big hit from a Wallabies defender forces a mistake. They'll get another chance to attack from midfield and will want to do more than what they did last time.
23'The Wallabies try a kick in behind but Bautista Delguy mops up nicely and the Pumas take possession. However, looking to clearm, Sanchez kicks out on the full.
21'After missing a massive forward pass, referee Lacey finds at least finds the second one. The Wallabies will attack from a handy midfield position, just inside their own half.
20'14-10 Conversion - Matt Toomua , Australia
19'Toomua adds the extras from the touchline, and it's the Wallabies back in front at 14-10.
19'Try time Wallabies! What a try from Israel Folau, who beats about five defenders from the lineout win and then skips down the touchline to score in the corner. Just a brilliant effort from the Wallabies superstar, who is playing on the wing at Test level for the first time since 2013 tonight.
19'12-10 Try - Israel Folau , Australia
18'A great strip from the Pumas sees the visitors force a turnover and then clear. The Wallabies looked to be threatening down the left touchline but Pete Samu failed to give the pass to an open Marika Koroibete.
17'The Wallabies will get a great chance to respond, though, as Sanchez clearance only just goes beyond the 22.
16'7-10 Conversion - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
15'Try time Argentina! Nicolas Sanchez has a try for the fourth straight game after a lovely Pumas build-up. They went right through Delguy, before a couple of settled phases close to the line. A lovely popped pass from De La Fuente put Sanchez over. The fly-half adds the extras to reclaim the lead for the visitors.
15'7-8 Try - Nicolas Sanchez , Argentina
13'A helter-skelter period of play comes to an end with a knock-on from Rory Arnold. The Wallabies tried to counter from a Pumas mistake, but couldn't find a way through. Scrum Argentina.
12'7-3 Conversion - Matt Toomua , Australia
11'Matt Toomua adds the extras and the Wallabies lead 7-3.
11'5-3 Try - Will Genia , Australia
10'Try time Wallabies! Will Genia is in for the hosts as he finishes off a neat move down the right touchline. Haylett-Petty slipped a lovely ball to Reece Hodge who found Genia back inside on the classic scrum-half line.
9'Penalty Australia. Lacey pings the Pumas tighthead prop, allowing the Wallabies to clear into Argentine territory.
8'Kurtley Beale knocks on as he has a quick glance at the Pumas defenders. The visitors will attack from a scrum just 25 metres out from the Wallabies' line.
7'Penalty Argentina. The Wallabies get pinged for maul obstruction and the Pumas clear to touch. Referee Lacey told Genia to use it, but the Wallabies drove again and were rightfully penalised.
6'Big chance here for the Wallabies as Nicolas Sanchez fumbles a pass, but regathers to find touch just 20 metres out.
5'It's good, and with some change to spare! The Pumas with the first points of the night.
5'0-3 Penalty goal - Emiliano Boffelli , Argentina
4'Penalty Argentina. After Will Genia makes a huge tackle on Nicolas Sanchez before the Pumas get the first call of the night from referee John Lacey. Emiliano Boffelli lines up a 51-metre penalty shot.
3'The Wallabies look a little disjointed early on with Kurtley Beale drifting across field quite a lot. They eventually find some space out wide, but Marika Koroibete loses sense of the touchline when he takes a pass from David Pocock.
1'We're underway at Cbus Super Stadium as Nicolas Sanchez kicks off down into Wallabies' territory. They clear before the Pumas return serve and find a flying Israel Folau. The Wallabies then look to go wide, before Dane Haylett-Petty drops a grubber in that finds touch on the Pumas' 10.
1'Anthems done and we're set for kick-off on the Gold Coast. Let's do this!
1'The Pumas are out on the field and here come the Wallabies, led out by David Pocock who is deputising for the injured Michael Hooper. It will be interesting to see how Pocock plays back at No.7, and it's a look at a more traditional back-row setup after Pocock himself was injured last week.
1'Let's hope there's a few more in the stands tonight than the last time the Wallabies were on the Gold Coast. Otherwise they might never head back there!
1'
1'Well what a game that was in Wellington, and congratulations to the Springboks for beating the All Blacks. Hopefully we get something similar on the Gold Coast where the Pumas will fancy their chances of upsetting a misfiring Wallabies outfit.
