Match Commentary

81'43-14 End of second half
80'A job very, very well done by Wales, who can now look towards their meeting with Australia on Sunday with some relish. Win that, and they'll be on easy street to the knockout phase.

For Georgia, it's back to the drawing board and a chance to reset before facing Uruguay, also on Sunday.
80'And the lineout goes long, all the way to Rhys Patchell, who turns and boots it out to end the game.
80'Penalty at the scrum. Time almost did evaporate. Not quite enough for it to be the last play, Georgia will have a lineout in the Welsh 22 first.
79'Into the last couple of minutes of the match, and possibly the last set-piece of it, too. A scrum for Georgia, and given how long these things have taken to get down to business today, you could see the time evaporate before anything meaningful happens.
79'Player substituted - Levan Chilachava , Georgia
79'Substitute on - Beka Gigashvili , Georgia
78'Substitute on - Lasha Khmaladze , Georgia
78'Player substituted - Tamaz Mchedlidze , Georgia
77'Halfpenny finds his range with a good kick from the right flank, adding the two points. He is likely to be a key man for Wales before this tournament is done.
77'43-14 Conversion - Leigh Halfpenny , Wales
76'Silly moment from George North, who takes exception to Bregvadze's challenge and charges after the Georgian, pushing him to the ground from behind. Angered, North bursts upfield and becomes the man on the end of a super Welsh move to dot down. It was wonderful footwork from Tomos Williams on the right in the first place that opened up the opportunity.
76'41-14 Try - George North , Wales
74'Unintentional comedy moment from Justin Tipuric, who tries to tiptoe down the whitewash after breaking a tackle, but really isn't all that close to managing it and falls over almost as if laughing at himself for attempting it in the first place. Wales are in a good mood at the end of this match, and so they should be - it is very much a case of job done.
72'Some sloppiness from Wales, followed by a dropped ball by Georgia, and suddenly Tomos Williams is darting forward with a chance to add to Wales' tally. It's going to come back for a penalty against Georgia, after Williams' kick bobbles into touch.
70'36-14 Conversion - Tedo Abzhandadze , Georgia
69'Chance for Georgia. Wales are penalised at a scrum and a quick tap penalty puts Georgia through to the try line. And a dive over by Levan Chilachava seals the points. Good try, excellent awareness and opportunism all round, and a real sense that Georgia will give lesser teams than Wales a very tough workout.
69'36-12 Try - Levan Chilachava , Georgia
67'Substitute on - Rhys Patchell , Wales
67'Player substituted - Dan Biggar , Wales
66'36-7 Conversion - Dan Biggar , Wales
65'Could this be a try for Wales? YES! Halfpenny begins it with some good ground made in the Wales half, and once North is set free on the right, his kick ahead is chased down brilliantly by Tomos Williams. Was Williams offside? Doesn't seem like there's any issues from the TMO. There's not. Biggar converts. Wales level the scores in the second half.
65'34-7 Try - Tomos Williams , Wales
63'It takes an age to get the scrum going (standard, really) and then Georgia are penalised for it turning beyond 90 degrees. A big old boot into touch by Biggar, and Wales will have an attacking lineout deep in the Georgian 22.
62'Substitute on - Aaron Shingler , Wales
62'Player substituted - Jake Ball , Wales
61'Finally, something of note! Modebadze makes a flying run down the left wing and Gerogia are moving in the right direction. It's a fleeting moment, though, and they're soon losing momentum and direction and Wales will have a put-in at the scrum, more or less where Modebadze grabbed the ball in the first place.
60'Player substituted - Mamuka Gorgodze , Georgia
60'Substitute on - Otar Giorgadze , Georgia
60'Substitute on - Gela Aprasidze , Georgia
60'Player substituted - Vasil Lobzhanidze , Georgia
60'Player substituted - Liam Williams , Wales
60'Substitute on - Leigh Halfpenny , Wales
58'Player substituted - Shalva Mamukashvili , Georgia
58'Substitute on - Beka Saghinadze , Georgia
57'There's a lot of nothing happening just now, sorry to report. There is, however, a bit of a concern for Wales is that George North needs some treatment after what appeared a blatant foul out on the wing. Seems ok, and Georgia are back to their full XV after Bregvadze served his time in the bin.
57'Player substituted - Ken Owens , Wales
57'Substitute on - Elliot Dee , Wales
57'Player substituted - Wyn Jones , Wales
57'Substitute on - Nicky Smith , Wales
55'Player substituted - Giorgi Tkhilaishvili , Georgia
55'Substitute on - Shalva Mamukashvili , Georgia
52'Georgia are playing well in this 10-minute spell with Bregvadze in the bin. They've managed to get the ball deep into Welsh territory, and are holding firm at the breakdown as Wales try to build some phase ball. Offside eventually against Georgia, and Wales will look to turn the tables in terms of territory.
51'Player substituted - Aaron Wainwright , Wales
51'Substitute on - Ross Moriarty , Wales
51'Substitute on - Shalva Sutiashvili , Georgia
51'Player substituted - Konstantine Mikautadze , Georgia
50'Brilliant interception from the Georgian win, Miriani Modebadze, but he immediately gives it straight back to Wales, who drop it and give it back to Georgia. Bit of scrappy play there in the end, and Georgia are happy to smack it deep into touch.
49'Wales driving forward from the lineout this time. The forwards want one of these for their own cause, to get some confidence going into the rest of the tournament. If they can do this against a pack that weighs the same as them, it will be a nice building block to go forward with. They've lost some momentum through the phases though, and credit to Georgia for re-establishing some foothold at the breakdown.
48'Substitute on - Tomos Williams , Wales
48'Player substituted - Gareth Davies , Wales
48'Yellow card - Jaba Bregvadze , Georgia
47'Splendid try from Wales! A wonderful team try, in that the forwards nearly score a brilliant pushover try, and then when Georgia illegally pull down the maul, a clever kick forward from Biggar allows Liam Williams to dot down. No, no try! Because there was a knock on by Williams. Ok, now it's a TMO decision on the collapse of the maul. Is it a penalty try? Seems like referee Luke Pearce will only give a penalty and a yellow card to Jaba Bregvadze, who is only just on the field as a substitute.
47'Player substituted - Tomas Francis , Wales
47'Substitute on - Dillon Lewis , Wales
47'Player substituted - Shalva Mamukashvili , Georgia
47'Substitute on - Jaba Bregvadze , Georgia
47'Player substituted - Mikheil Nariashvili , Georgia
47'Substitute on - Guram Gogichashvili , Georgia
47'Player substituted - Beka Gigashvili , Georgia
47'Substitute on - Levan Chilachava , Georgia
45'Wales look to set the right tone again after that score, with some good hands in the back line shifting it across to George North. After a few more passes, Josh Adams looks like he might be in on the left and he seems to be obstructed once he kicks ahead. No penalty, and Wales will have a different penalty further back, near halfway.
44'29-7 Conversion - Tedo Abzhandadze , Georgia
43'Oh wonderful conversion! That's a great kick from out wide on the right.
43'Now, has Mamukashvili managed to touch the ball down over the line? The prop was at the back of a rolling maul that had Wales scrambling. It's going to the TMO, with the onfield decision being TRY! Is there anything to disprove it? No, TRY! Great moment for Georgia!
43'29-5 Try - Shalva Mamukashvili , Georgia
42'And the Georgians have started with considerable intent here. Wales having to defend robustly against a rolling maul, and Wyn Jones is penalised for collapsing it. Georgia again kicking for touch. They want points, and some momentum for the rest of their campaign.
41'We are back out for the second half, and Georgia will kick off, hoping for a slightly better 40 minutes than they've just experienced.
41'29-0 Conversion - Dan Biggar , Wales
41'+129-0 End of first half
40'Biggar with the conversion from out on the left flank. A beaut. That makes up for his first effort of the match! It's all Wales. They lead by 29 points, and that's the half.
40'Liam Williams dots down for the bonus-point try, with Jonathan Davies giving the assist but a wonderful move off the set-piece ball from Wales. Job well and truly done, and there's still 40 minutes to go.
40'29-0 Start of second half
40'27-0 Try - Liam Williams , Wales
39'And just when they need it, Alun Wyn Jones comes up trumps for his side, deftly stealing the lineout ball with a clever flick and killing the chance for Georgia. Welsh lineout now in the Georgian half. One last chance for them instead? Yes indeed - TRY WALES!
38'A chargedown by Jake Ball puts Georgia back on their heels for a moment. But there's a penalty for a neck roll in the ruck, and Georgia will clear deep. Perhaps a chance for one last attack before the break?
37'A real drop in the intensity in this second quarter, which perhaps isn't all that surprising. Georgia are keen to steady the ship, Wales are happy to continue taking care of business and wait for the gaps to open up again, safe in the knowledge that they almost certainly will.
33'Lobzhanidze attempting to pull the strings, the scrumhalf lining up his men and working the ball left, then switching right. But a key knock on by Kveseladze ends the threat. Disappointment for the Georgians, but again credit to Wales' defence for pinpoint organisation.
32'From the lineout, Georgia have a push going but Wales do not buckle. Georgia will instead have to build from the ruck.
31'Penalty conceded in the scrum by Wales, and Georgia are kicking for touch. Love the attitude being shown from Georgia, who cannot be entertaining thoughts of a comeback, but do want to show what they're made of on this stage.
29'A small win for Georgia, who finally manage to get a scrum going in the right direction -- but then Gareth Davies breaks up the move with, well, is that a deliberate knock-on? No, it hit him in the chest and was unintentional. Another scrum for Georgia, deep in Welsh territory.
26'There's a little bit of a lull in the match, with Georgia finally managing to get a little bit of possession but failing to make any progress with it. Until now! Great break from deep, and a scrambling Welsh defence might be getting into trouble for a deliberate knock on against Gareth Davies, who knocked down Tkhilaishvili's pass towards the inside man, Mamukashvili. TMO taking a look at this -- but the ball might not have traveled forward at all! Nothing going right for the Georgians, nothing going wrong for the Welsh.
22'Worth noting as well that Australia were trailing Fiji in the other Pool D match on Saturday after 43 minutes -- no such dramas for Wales, who almost have another score when Tipuric charges down an attempted clearance. Warren Gatland must be absolutely thrilled with the way his team have attacked this match.
20'22-0 Conversion - Dan Biggar , Wales
19'Wales are laying down a marker here. Brilliant third try from Josh Adams, who puts on the turbo chargers to fly away from the Georgian defence from 40 metres out. Wales just about have the bonus point in the bag, and there's only a quarter of the match gone.
19'20-0 Try - Josh Adams , Wales
17'Tedo Abzhandadze, the Georgia flyhalf, lets a high pass go straight through his fingers and onto the ground. Georgia struggling to get the fundamentals right so far, and that's going to cost you dearly against a side as good as Wales.
15'Wales are taking absolutely no chances here. They are looking really focused, with Josh Adams causing problems now for the Georgians before a loose offload hits the ground. You get the feeling this could be as many points as Wales want, and they'll certainly be targeting the bonus point as early as possible before rotating their squad ahead of Sunday's big clash against Australia.
14'15-0 Conversion - Dan Biggar , Wales
13'And from that, a TRY! Great flowing rugby from Wales, Gareth Davies again the architect with a super run forward, and the ball is recycled for Justin Tipuric to roll across the line from 10 metres out, bursting through some loose arm tackles to touch down.
13'Georgian scrum right on halfway, but Matiashvili, the fullback, overhits a kick towards touch and Wales will have a lineout right on halfway.
13'13-0 Try - Justin Tipuric , Wales
10'Wales dominating each and every scrum so far, with quick ball in and out. It's a similar drill at lineoouts, and from their latest one they are again building phase ball in the Georgian 22. However, Wales are pinged for not releasing in the ruck, and Georgia will get to clear their lines.
7'Pinged that one through without any dramas. Wales setting a really good tempo in this game, something England struggled to do yesterday in their match against Tonga.
7'8-0 Penalty goal - Dan Biggar , Wales
6'So, back to the Wales attacking effort in the Georgian half. Jonathan Davies again taking a nice line of attack, and a penalty comes for offside against Georgia. Right in front of the posts, so Biggar will try and get his radar fixed after that colossally poor conversion earlier.
4'Soso Matiashvili is made to scramble backwards by an excellent Biggar kick from deep, and Wales will have a lineout midway inside the Georgia half. Warren Gatland's men mean business so far. However, a collision between the two No. 11s (Josh Adams colliding with Giorgi Kveseladze) has been referred by the TMO, who wants the match referee to have a look at Adams' challenge. Is there anything there? Doesn't seem like it, a fair challenge, but the TMO is pushing hard for another look. No dice, carry on. The correct decision.
4'Erm... What was that from Dan Biggar?! He manages to miss the conversion from directly in front of the posts. It clatters off the uprights and away, to stunned gasps from the crowd. What a weird moment!
3'SCORE! Jonathan Davies is set free by a wonderful miss pass by Gareth Davies and Jonathan is untouched through the gain line and over behind the posts. Clinical start from Wales.
3'5-0 Try - Jonathan Davies , Wales
2'Good ground made by Jonathan Davies when he is fed off the back of that scrum, but his offload goes to ground and we'll have another scrum.
1'And we're underway! Wales kick deep and Georgia immediately concede a scrum on the edge of their own 22. Not the start the underdogs wanted, at all.
1'The teams are in the tunnel and heading towards the pitch in Aichi. It's the first time this stadium has been used during the tournament, and it will also be the venue for hosts Japan's match against Samoa on October 5.
1'For Georgia, it is an opportunity to show just why there is so much debate over their potential involvement in the Six Nations. They were a wonderful presence at the 2015 World Cup and have enough talent in their ranks to cause some problems for the Tier 1 teams in Pool D: Wales and Australia.
1'This marks the start of the final leg of Warren Gatland's journey with Wales. He leaves his coaching position at the end of this World Cup and would dearly love to take Wales to their first global triumph -- the draw gives them the opportunity to avoid New Zealand until the final, as well. Could it be Wales' year? They've every chance.
