Match Commentary

81'45-10 End of second half
80'
80'Australia wrap up their pool stage against Georgia on Friday. For Uruguay it's Wales on Sunday to finish a strong campaign for Los telos.
80'It's all over in Oita as David Pocock is bundled into touch. Comfortable on the scoreboard in the end, after a tricky first half, but has it answered any of the questions around the team? As for Uruguay they were excellent in the first half and a challenge at the breakdown all game.
79'Huge shove from the Wallabies disrupts the Uruguay scrum, but from the resulting rucks, Uruguay eventually find the chalk with the 18th phase of play. Manuel Diana emerges from a sea of bodies with the try Los telos deserve. The conversion is good and we have a minute to play.
79'45-10 Conversion - Felipe Berchesi , Uruguay
78'45-8 Try - Manuel Diana , Uruguay
74'First real foray into Australian territory this half for Uruguay. They camp on the Wallabies line with multiple mauls, but can't get the ball down. 5m scrum. The crowd in Oita are right behind them!
72'Substitute on - Joaquin Jaunsolo , Uruguay
72'Player substituted - Juan Echeverria , Uruguay
70'Missed conversion from Lealiifano
70'Substitute on - Guillermo Pujadas , Uruguay
70'Player substituted - German Kessler , Uruguay
69'It's a double for Haylett-Petty. A scruffy build up, before the ball finally finds it's way out to the right wing and Haylett-Petty holds off to tackler to score. But we're checking with the TMO. Possible offside on David Pocock.....But inconclusive and the try stands!
68'45-3 Try - Dane Haylett-Petty , Australia
64'Substitute on - Felipe Etcheverry , Uruguay
64'Player substituted - Rodrigo Silva , Uruguay
63'40-3 Conversion - Christian Leali'ifano , Australia
62'
62'The very next scrum and Australia score again and it's James Slipper in game 94 getting his first Wallabies try! The Australian team engulf Slipper in the celebration and the veteran prop is immediately replaced to a standing ovation from the Wallabies bench. The conversion is good.
62'Player substituted - Folau Fainga'a , Australia
62'Substitute on - Jordan Uelese , Australia
62'Substitute on - Sekope Kepu , Australia
62'Player substituted - James Slipper , Australia
62'Player substituted - Andres Vilaseca , Uruguay
62'Substitute on - Agustin Della Corte , Uruguay
61'38-3 Try - James Slipper , Australia
60'Kuridrani so close to the hattrick! Bursts onto the pop pass from Genia, breaks tackles, but can't ground it. 5m scrum to Australia.
56'Ashley-Cooper rolls back the years beating 3, before feeding Beale who is bundled into touch.
56'Player substituted - Manuel Leindekar , Uruguay
56'Substitute on - Ignacio Dotti , Uruguay
55'Substitute on - Juan Gaminara , Uruguay
55'Player substituted - Juan Diego Ormaechea , Uruguay
55'33-3 Conversion - Christian Leali'ifano , Australia
54'And the floodgates may be opening! Will Genia, just on the field, scampers over after good work from Number 8 Jack Dempsey down the short side. Lealiifano with a nice conversion, and the lead is out to 30.
53'31-3 Try - Will Genia , Australia
52'Player substituted - Agustin Ormaechea , Uruguay
52'Substitute on - Santiago Arata , Uruguay
51'More pressure from the Wallabies and only a little knock forward from Fainga'a saves Uruguay. They are hanging on a little at the moment.
51'Substitute on - David Pocock , Australia
51'Player substituted - Michael Hooper , Australia
51'Substitute on - Will Genia , Australia
51'Player substituted - Nic White , Australia
50'Player substituted - Diego Arbelo , Uruguay
50'Substitute on - Juan Rombys , Uruguay
48'
48'Try time. Explosive burst through midfield by Tevita Kuridrani to score for Australia. Good line out win, Kuridrani hits the line, and races through for the try. That's a brace for the centre, and Lealiifano makes the kick. 26-3 to the Wallabies.
48'26-3 Conversion - Christian Leali'ifano , Australia
46'24-3 Try - Tevita Kuridrani , Australia
44'The second replacement Taniela Tupou comes up just short after crashing through the tackles near the Uruguay line. Uruguay get the scrum, and the free kick. The pressure is relieved.
42'Good early possession for Australia, but they turn it over in a decent position. News from the sidelines that Petaia's change is "game management" and they are no major concerns. Petaia was struggling with injury in the pre-World Cup camp. He does have an ice pack on his left hamstring however...
41'We are underway for the second half in Oita...no Petaia for Australia....Ashley-Cooper is on.
41'Player substituted - Jordan Petaia , Australia
41'Substitute on - Adam Ashley-Cooper , Australia
41'Player substituted - Allan Alaalatoa , Australia
41'Substitute on - Taniela Tupou , Australia
41'+219-3 End of first half
40'
40'Uruguay turn it over and that'll be that for the first half. Australia relieved to have a good cushion, but not impressive so far from the Wallabies. Michael Cheika sure to have some stern words.
40'NO TRY! Number 8 Manuel Diana was offside in the ruck and played the ball, and we'll come back for the initial Uruguya penalty. They kick for touch and will have a final chance for points.
40'And seemingly out of nowhere Uruguay get the try they probably deserve! Tomas Inciarte scores after Los telos snatched the ball at the ruck, with Wallabies scrum half Nic White nowhere to be seen, and Inciarte ran 30m down the sideline to score. But wait......TMO time.....
40'19-3 Start of second half
39'Scrappy last few minutes as both sides turn the ball over in the shadows of half time.
34'
32'And despite being down to 14, Australia stretch their lead through a try from Tevita Kuridrani. The Wallabies steal the ball on halfway, some lovely footwork from Petaia puts Kuridrani through under the posts. The kick is missed by Lealiifano.
31'19-3 Try - Tevita Kuridrani , Australia
29'Los telos can't capitalise and concede the penalty. Wallabies survive, but this is a ragged half so far.
29'More indiscipline from Australia as Lukhan Salakaia-Loto is sent to the bin for another high tackle. Uruguay line out 5m out.
29'Yellow card - Lukhan Salakaia-Loto , Australia
27'Great play from Uruguay. The Winger Freitas slipped past 3 Wallabies tacklers, flanker Ormaechea continued the drive and Uruguay win a penalty. They kick for touch and have a line out 10m out.
26'Dempsey drops the restart, and Uruguay will have the scrum 25m from the Wallabies line.
25'And it's a try for the teenager! Jordan Petaia with judst his second touch of the game is in under the posts. The 19 year old in off his wing and good work from Kurtley Beale finds the youngster. Much better attacking set from the Wallabies. The conversion is good. Australia lead by 11.
25'14-3 Conversion - Christian Leali'ifano , Australia
24'12-3 Try - Jordan Petaia , Australia
23'Superb from Uruguay at the scrum. Nic White hesitates and a huge push sees Uruguay win against the feed and clear their lines.
22'Australia get away with a messy scrum. Uruguay ferocious at the breakdown at the moment. The Wallabies get another scrum 5m out.
19'Our man in Japan not impressed with what he's seen so far
19'No try for Australia. 5m scrum.
19'Clean line out win for the Wallabies and slick attacking move sees Michael Hooper tackled just short. He rolls across the line but looks held up. We're checking with the TMO.
17'It's a good scrap at the moment. Uruguay not taking a backward step. Penalty to Australia just inside their own half. They'll kick for touch.
14'From the restart the TMO is involved after a high tackle from Adam Coleman on Rodrigo Silva. And he's off to the bin. Yellow for Coleman! Coleman's shoulder appeared to make contact just around Silva's neck as he was falling. Australia down to 14.
14'Yellow card - Adam Coleman , Australia
13'Uruguay almost over the line with Freitas a metre short. He loses it forward but we come back for a penalty to Uruguay and Felipe Berchesi takes the simple 3 points. Good response from the underdog!
13'7-3 Penalty goal - Felipe Berchesi , Uruguay
11'Big driving maul goes down, but Uruguay get the 5m scrum. Pressure is on...
9'Uruguay get possession from the restart and win a penalty. They take the kick to touch and it's a 5m line out.
7'In the end a simple try for Australia for Dane Haylett-Petty. A series of phases near the Uruguayan line, ended up with a back line move, and a nice Matt Toomua pass put the winger Haylett-Petty in on the right corner. Lealiifano adds the conversion and Australia off to a good start.
7'7-0 Conversion - Christian Leali'ifano , Australia
6'5-0 Try - Dane Haylett-Petty , Australia
2'Fast start from Australia, but excellent counter ruck from Uruguay and they get the penalty.
1'And Australia will kick off. Here we go.....
1'The teams are on their way out in Oita and we're set for the anthems.
1'It's a big day for this young man. There has been a lot of buzz around Jordan Petaia for some time. Just 13 Super Rugby appearances, but he's an excitement machine.
1'More on the James O'Connor situation here from coach Michael Cheika
1'Some late team changes for Australia with James O'Connor being replaced on the bench by Samu Kerevi after O'Connor complained of soreness this morning. Overall 12 changes for Australia including the World Cup debut of exciting teenage wing Jordan Petaia. Meanwhile Esteban Meneses, Uruguay's coach, has revamped his entire back row, dropped his captain to the bench and picked 12 players aged 25 or under as he urged Los Teros to show the world they "can compete" with a Tier 1 nation.
1'ESPN's Sam Bruce has taken a look at what's at stake for Australia
1'Hello and welcome to Oita at the southern tip of Japan for today?s first match of a triple header. We start in Pool D for Australia against Uruguay. Quite a rollercoaster for both these sides so far in this World Cup. Australia overcame a gutsy effort from Fiji in their first match, before losing a thriller against Wales. For Uruguay, a stunning win over Fiji set the World Cup alight, but they came down to Earth with a bump as they went done 33-7 to Georgia. The Wallabies are heavy favourites today but have some headaches of their own to resolve after a very patchy tournament so far. And Australia will debut their Indigenous for the first time in a World Cup.
