An Elton Jantjies try in injury time earned the Lions a bonus point, 24-15 victory over a gutsy Western Force side in their Super Rugby clash in Perth.
It didn't start well for the Australian side with Lionel Mapoe touching down seven minutes in. After the Force conceded the penalty, the Lions kicked to the corner and having won their lineout, the ball was spread wide and the onrushing Mapoe touched down.
Jantjies added the conversion, but two Ian Prior penalties brought the Force back to within a point.
With four minutes remaining in the half, the Lions struck again, with a fantastic try. Having secured possession at the breakdown on halfway, quick hands from front row Malcolm Marx, Jantjies and Mapoe released winger Courtnall Skosan who scored in the corner.
Prior narrowed the gap to two points, 14-12 with penalties either side of halftime before Jantjies pushed the Lions' lead back to five points with a half hour remaining.
The persistence of the Force saw them fightback through another Prior penalty but it was as close as it got for the Aussies as their losing bonus point was snatched from them in added time.
Having tried to run the ball from their own line, they coughed up possession and the Lions made them pay.
Having secured a penalty, the Lions opted for the scrum and Jantjies dived over to secure a bonus point for the Lions and deny one to the Force.
