Terryn Milton gets the friendly roll for a game-winning layup

Terryn Milton somehow gets the layup to roll in at the last second to finish a comeback win for Oklahoma State.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- — Terryn Milton made a go-ahead shot with 0.1 seconds left and Oklahoma State beat West Virginia 62-61 on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Big 12 Conference Tournament.

Milton took an inbounds pass with 13.3 second left. Her teammates cleared the right side of the lane and she cut back her defender with a behind-the-back dribble to get a clean shot that hung on the rim before dropping.

Milton thought she had the lead with 38.2 seconds remaining on another basket in the lane but an offensive foul was called. West Virginia guard Kyah Watson had a jumper from the free-throw line roll off and Oklahoma gained possession after a tie-up on the rebound.

Milton’s winner gave Oklahoma State its first lead since it was 10-9 with 3:15 left in the first quarter.

Oklahoma State closed the game on a 15-3 run as West Virginia only made three field goals in the fourth quarter — with just one in the final six minutes.

Naomie Alnatas had 16 points and six assists and Taylen Collins added 14 points and 15 rebounds for fourth-seeded Oklahoma State (21-10). Milton, a UT Arlington transfer, finished with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Oklahoma State was 1 of 10 from 3-point range in the first half before finishing 7 of 25.

Madisen Smith made five 3-pointers and scored 23 points and JJ Quinerly scored nine of her 18 points in the third quarter for West Virginia (19-11). Smith had her fourth straight game with 20-plus points, following a career-high 30 against Baylor on Saturday. Quinerly injured her right ankle with 2:25 remaining in the fourth quarter and needed to be carried off the court.

West Virginia closed the third quarter on a 15-7 run for a 53-42 lead. Oklahoma State scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth to get within 58-57 on a 3-pointer by Lior Garzon. Smith made her fifth 3-pointer for a four-point lead, but Garzon answered at the other end with another 3 pointer to make it 61-60 with 1:31 left.
