Toni Minichiello, who coached Jessica Ennis-Hill to Olympic gold and silver medals, has been warned about his future conduct by UK Athletics after he verbally abused an athlete he used to train.

The athlete, who is widely reported to not be Ennis-Hill, lodged a complaint in which she claimed Minichiello had sworn at her.

UK Athletics' Case Management Group met on Feb. 11 and found Minichiello guilty of misconduct.

In an interview with the Guardian, Minichiello defended his behaviour and said the incident was "probably one argument in 15 years of a relationship".

He added: "If you look at my record of supporting Jessica Ennis-Hill and defending her after Charles van Commenee's comments about her being out of shape in 2011, or when people inside the sport said she couldn't come back after her pregnancy, it shows my reputation in terms of defending women and supporting women's athletics.

"I understand her [the complainant's] frustration, but I think the letter is insulting and inaccurate. I think I am a fair, honest and straight-batting coach."
