HS Prannoy beat Parupalli Kashyap in three games in an all-Indian final to win the US Open in Anaheim, California.

World No. 23 Prannoy got off to a good start, winning the opening game 21-15. At one stage, he won six consecutive points in the game.

Kashyap, ranked 59 in the world, made a strong comeback from there, winning the tight second game 22-20. Neither player won more than three consecutive points in the game.

But the momentum swung Prannoy's way after that as he ran away with the deciding game, winning 21-12. The match lasted 65 minutes.

This was the third Grand Prix Gold title of Prannoy's career. He had won the Indonesian Masters in 2014 and the Swiss Open last year. His previous best display of 2017 had been making the semi-finals at the Indonesia Open, a tournament where he beat Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei and China's Chen Long.

Prannoy and Kashyap had split their previous two meetings, with the former winning in straight games the last time they faced each other -- at the German Open in 2014.

It was the third all-Indian final this year. Earlier, B Sai Praneeth had defeated Kidambi Srikanth at the Singapore Open and Sameer Verma had beaten Praneeth at the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships.
