PARIS -- Kidambi Srikanth's dream season continued as he made it to his fifth Superseries final of the year but PV Sindhu crashed out in the semi-finals at the French Open on Saturday.
In an all-Indian semi-final, Srikanth, who won the Denmark Open last week, beat HS Prannoy 14-21, 21-18, 21-19 in 62 minutes.
Having already completed a hat-trick of Superseries titles, Srikanth will be aiming to win his fourth title of the season when he meets Kenta Nishimoto of Japan. Nishimoto defeated Anders Antonsen 21-17, 21-15 in the other semi-final.
It was Prannoy who started on a stronger note by winning the first game. The players mostly remained neck-and-neck in the next two games but Srikanth's big-match temperament came to the fore during the big points and saw him to victory.
Srikanth praised Prannoy for his run in the tournament. "He really played well," Srikanth said. "The second and third game could have gone either way. Throughout the tournament he was fantastic."
In the women's event, PV Sindhu lost 14-21, 9-21 to Japan's Akene Yamaguchi in a one-sided semi-final that lasted just 37 minutes.
After a drop in intensity in Sindhu's performance at 14-14, Yamaguchi reeled off seven straight points to wrap up the first game.
Yamaguchi repeatedly attacked Sindhu's left side. With her powerful smashes, did also did not allow the Indian player to approach the net.
In the second game, Yamaguchi quickly went 5-0 up and then led 11-2 at the break. She went on to win the game and match with ease to make it to the final.
