NLEX, Ginebra, San Miguel to see action in Dubai in October

PBA fans in the United Arab Emirates are in for a treat as the league scheduled a two-day basketball showcase in October.

As part of their Governors' Cup campaigns, three teams will see action at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on October 3 and 4.

On the first day, June Mar Fajardo and Kiefer Ravena will take center stage when San Miguel and NLEX clash at 8 p.m. (12 midnight in Manila).

The next day, the Road Warriors will have a matchup against Scottie Thompson and the rest of Barangay Ginebra at 7:30 p.m (11:30 p.m in Manila).

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial told ESPN5 that both matchups will be the first games to be played at the arena, which opened its doors last June.

"The Coca-Cola Arena, 17000-seater, just opened. We will be the first teams to play there," Marcial said.

The league contingent will arrive on October 1, Marcial added.

This won't be the first time the PBA trooped to Dubai to play in front of the Filipino faithful. Ginebra, Rain or Shine and Barako all figured in a two-day showpiece back in 2012 at the Al Shabab Arabi Club, which was also host to two more Governors' Cup games in 2015 with GlobalPort, Rain or Shine and Ginebra.

The league is also planning another overseas game in San Francisco late October, but might have to postpone it if it fails to address some documentation and visa issues by late July.

Back in January, games scheduled in Guam were also nixed due to problems with the US immigration.
