Guards Alec Stockton, Mikey Williams, Jordan Heading joining PBA rookie draft

Far Eastern University's Alec Stockton, Filipino-American guard Mikey Williams, and Alab Pilipinas standout Jordan Heading have submitted their applications for the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft, further deepening an already loaded class two days ahead of the league's deadline for entries on Thursday.

The trio passed their requirements Monday and increased the total number of aspirants to 80, according to the PBA.

Stockton announced on Instagram that he will be skipping his final year of eligibility with the Tamaraws.

"Thank you for giving a scrawny kid a chance to dream. Thank you for believing in me when no one else did," Stockton wrote on his post.

"There's a new path for me to take and I carry with me all the learnings from everyone in FEU," he continued. "Looking forward to the next chapter in my journey. With God's grace, I am ready for the future."

Stockton, 22, averaged 16 minutes in 14 games played and normed 5.0 points, 2.0 assists and 1.7 rebounds while helping the Tamaraws get to the first round of the stepladder playoffs in Season 82.

Williams is one of the better backcourt prospects after productive stints that have taken him from Cal State Fullerton to the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

The 6'2" guard averaged 17.4 points on 41 percent shooting, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists in his senior year in the 2012-13 season with the Titans before suiting up for Sioux Falls Skyforce and Canton Charge in the NBA G League, where he played 88 games from 2014 to 2018.

He later suited up for the Saigon Heat in the 2017-18 Asean Basketball League (ABL) season, where Williams logged 17.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals on 44.4 percent shooting in 21 games, before jumping into the MPBL, tallying 15.9 points, 6.6 assists and 5.1 boards as the top option for the General Santos Warriors in the 2019-20 MPBL Lakan Season.

Williams was also an integral piece for Mighty Sports' title run in the 2020 Dubai International Basketball Tournament.

Heading was coming off a productive stint with Alab in the canceled 2019-20 season and tallied 7.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 dimes in 16 games played.

The 24-year-old, who suited up for the Batang Gilas team that finished fourth in the 2011 FIBA Asia Under-16 Championships in Vietnam, joins teammate Andrei Caracut for the Mar. 14 proceedings.
