Hector Rondon dealing with sore triceps

CHICAGO -- Cubs set-up man Hector Rondon has a sore right triceps, leading manager Joe Maddon to avoid using him over the last few games. Rondon has not pitched since Aug. 2.

"I'll play catch," Rondon said after the Cubs 5-1 victory over Anaheim on Tuesday. "If I feel something, I prefer to take a couple days instead of get hurt when I pitch."

Rondon has battled arm injuries in the past but has been relatively healthy since joining the Cubs. He worked his way into the closer's role but has pitched the eighth inning since the team acquired Aroldis Chapman.

"I've been hurt for a lot of years," Rondon said. "I prefer to keep it up with the trainer and get better. As soon as I feel good I'll get in the game."

Rondon has a 1.70 ERA with 18 saves this season. Pedro Strop has filled in for Rondon over the past couple games.
