St. John's NIT Season Tip-Off game against Minnesota had fans checking their televisions to make sure they weren't watching a broadcast of an 80s classic.
Why? Red Storm junior big man Chris Obekpa was rocking shorts that showed off more of the thigh than we're used to seeing in this decade.
"I'm taking it back to the 80s," Obekpa told ESPN's Jeff Goodman. "Actually, it's just more comfortable."
The shorts weren't specially issued. Rather, they were rolled up. Although, Obekpa said he's hoping to get a special, shorter pair made soon. Obekpa totaled 10 points and eight rebounds in St. John's 70-61 win over Minnesota.
Whatever the reason for the wardrobe switch, college basketball fans everywhere thank Obekpa for taking us back to a simpler -- and skimpier -- time for athletic wear.
