New Balance Player of the Day: Aug. 8

New Balance Baseball

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The Chicago White Sox bats exploded for two touchdowns in a 14-11 win over the Washington Nationals. Half of the runs were provided by Owasso (Okla.) shortstop Andrew Rosa, who singled and hit two doubles in three at-bats while driving in seven runs.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder and Oklahoma State commit has shown a tremendous combination of speed and power. His doubles hit the 348-foot outfield walls -- one in right, the other in left -- and also stole third.

The explosive play on Wednesday shouldn’t be surprising -- Rosa had 21 steals for Owasso this spring while hitting .414 with seven homers and 51 runs scored.
