Missouri Week 5 POWERADE baseball rankings: Liberty enters FAB 50

After games on Saturday, April 21

A cluster of games between top 10 teams gave some clarity to the playoff picture while opening the door for a new team to take over the top spot.

The Liberty Blue Jays, led by Nathan Winfrey, have been on a roll and pushed their current win streak to 10 games by sweeping the competition at the Northland Baseball Tournament. Liberty now sits at No. 47 in the latest POWERADE FAB 50 with a chance to avenge their lone loss of the season this week when it plays Lee's Summit.

Vianney returned to its winning ways by defeating previous No. 1 SLUH and previous No. 6 Francis Howell in consecutive contests. This should add even more intrigue to what should be a closely contested Class 4 postseason.

Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

1. Liberty 14-1 (2)

Bluejays move into top spot riding 10-game win streak, including last week's triumph at the Northland Baseball Tournament.

2. Vianney (Kirkwood) 14-4 (4)

Golden Griffins ended two-game slide by beating previous No. 1 SLUH and No. 6 Francis Howell in consecutive close matchups.

3. Francis Howell Central (St. Charles) 14-3 (3)

Spartans have won 10 of last 11, including last week's victory against rival and No. 7 Francis Howell.
