Jesuit, Corvallis top final hoop rankings

The hoop season came to an end this past weekend and things look awfully similar to the close of the 2011 year. Jesuit and Corvallis capped the season by taking titles in Class 6A and 5A, respectively, and occupy the top two spots in the rankings.

Jesuit became the first Oregon squad to pull off a four-peat at state, toppling Lake Oswego in the finals behind 19 points from junior guard Khyan Rayner. The Crusaders (No. 40 in the POWERADE FAB 50) buried seven treys in the finals. Corvallis beat Benson in the semifinals then took down upstart Milwaukie in the finals. Jake Ehlers pumped in 17 points to punctuate his career with back-to-back titles.

Class 4A winner Central and 3A champ Dayton also made the final top 10, joining a contingent of 5A squads that were ranked for most of the season. Three of our preseason ranked teams collected titles and four finished ranked at the end of the year.

Here's a look at the final top three:

1. Jesuit (26-2) — last week No. 1

2. Corvallis (24-4) — last week No. 5

3. Lake Oswego (22-6) — last week No. 2
