Texas Week 13 POWERADE baseball rankings: Calallen falls

After games on Saturday, May 26

The No. 1 spot in the POWEADE FAB 50 has become not so coveted of late. For the fourth time in four weeks, the nation's top team fell, with Calallen serving as the victim this time. The Wildcats were stunned in the Class 4A regional semifinals by Boerne Champion, which had the luxury of choosing a one-game playoff instead of a three-game series after winning a coin flip.

As a result, CC Carroll moves back into the top spot after beating Sharyland to set up a matchup with Laredo in the Class 5A regional final. Seven Texas teams now hold a spot in the POWERADE FAB 50, beginning with CC Carroll at No. 7 and Rockwall-Heath at No. 50.

Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

1. Carroll (Corpus Christi) 30-4 (3)

Tigers regain top spot in state after sweeping Sharyland. Next up: Laredo in the Class 5A regional finals.

2. Arlington Martin 34-4-1 (2)

Warriors bested LD Bell in Game 3 of series to move on to Class 5A regional finals.

3. Calallen (Corpus Christi) 33-2 (1)

Class 4A favorite Wildcats were upset by Boerne Champion in one-game playoff.
