ESPN 100 swingman Mustapha Heron made a verbal commitment to Auburn on Sunday following his visit.
Why he committed: It was a surprise to be sure. this was the first of Heron's visits and as recently as last week he had gone on the record as saying that he was still open to new suitors and intended to take all five of his visits. Things changed quickly this weekend though when Bruce Pearl offered Heron a chance to be the focal point of the Tigers' program. For as well as Auburn did on the recruiting trail last year, it was almost exclusively in the frontcourt. Pearl's system has traditionally highlighted a shooting guard and the potential to be that guy was very enticing for Heron. That, and the promise that he would have the ball in his hands quite a bit from day one, were enough to get it done.
