Summer recruiting road map: Rhode Island needs replacements for vets

Heading into the all-important July recruiting period, we take a look at recruiting needs and game plans for the top 25 programs in college basketball. Next up, the Rhode Island Rams.

Where they are: Last season was supposed to be the year for Rhode Island. The Rams were coming off a 23-win season in 2015, sitting on the NCAA tournament bubble until late in the season, and nearly everyone was back. Then E.C. Matthews tore his ACL in the season opener, and several other key players suffered injuries throughout the season. The Rams still managed to win 17 games, and the optimism from last preseason is back. Matthews is healthy, while starters Jared Terrell, Jarvis Garrett, Hassan Martin and Kuran Iverson also return. Four McGlynn and Earl Watson are the lone personnel losses, and Rhode Island is bringing in a four-man freshman class -- and Indiana transfer Stanford Robinson is also eligible.
