Heading into the all-important July recruiting period, we take a look at recruiting needs and game plans for the top 25 programs in college basketball. Next up, the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Where they are: The Zags lost plenty from last year’s team: Kyle Wiltjer, Eric McClellan and Kyle Dranginis all graduated while Domantas Sabonis left after his sophomore season and could wind up being an NBA draft lottery pick. But coach Mark Few and his staff were prepared -- having a pair of impact transfers who sat out last season in point guard Nigel Williams-Goss (Washington) and power forward Johnathan Williams III (Missouri). The pair should start and will be joined in the starting lineup by big man Przemek Karnowski, who missed most of last season with a back injury but decided to return to Spokane instead of heading the professional route. Gonzaga also brings back starting point guard Josh Perkins (10.1 ppg) and wing Silas Melson, who averaged more than 20 minutes per game as a sophomore.

Few and the Bulldogs will bring in a strong freshmen class with a pair of top-100 players and a trio of international guys. Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) skilled 6-foot-10 big man Zach Collins is a McDonald’s All American who checked in at No. 37 in the ESPN 100 while Gonzaga landed shooting guard Zach Norvell (No. 83) out of Simeon High in Chicago. Norvell once hit 14 3-pointers in a summer league game. Assistant Tommy Lloyd helped bring in two more frontcourt guys from outside of the U.S.: 6-foot-10 versatile forward Killian Tillie and 6-foot-10 Jacob Larsen of Denmark. The final piece of the class is 6-foot-7 athletic wing Rui Hachimura of Japan. Gonzaga has enjoyed success with the international route, and Lloyd has strong connections overseas.
