Heading into the all-important July recruiting period, we take a look at recruiting needs and game plans for the top 25 programs in college basketball. Next up, the UConn Huskies.

Where they are: UConn lost a bunch from last year’s team: Daniel Hamilton left early for the NBA while Kevin Ollie also lost fifth-year senior starters Sterling Gibbs and Shonn Miller. Reserves Omar Calhoun (senior) and Sam Cassell Jr. (transfer) are also gone. However, the Huskies will bring in five freshmen -- including four who were ranked in the ESPN 100: Point guard Alterique Gilbert (No. 30) is the prize of the group, but Ollie & Co. also added three frontcourt guys with Juwan Durham (No. 52), Vance Jackson (No. 78) and Mamadou Diarra (No. 93). They also brought in wing and former UNLV commit Christian Vital late in the spring. VCU transfer Terry Larrier sat out last season and should step into Hamilton’s spot.
