Under Armour jersey tour: DE Brenton Cox

Defensive end Brenton Cox was presented with an Under Armour All America jersey on Friday afternoon, in a ceremony at Stockbridge (Georgia) High.

Cox’s dreams began years ago, which made Friday’s ceremony a dream come true.

“It means a lot to be an Under Armour All-American,” said Cox. “Growing up, I always wanted to be an All-American in life. To have the ceremony and get my jersey makes it come true.”

The five-star, and No. 12-ranked, prospect in the Class of 2018 committed to Ohio State over Georgia and others April 25, and hasn’t looked back.

“I picked Ohio State because of their tradition, and great defensive lineman and especially defensive ends. Coach [Larry] Johnson and Coach [Urban] Meyer, they will get me straight in life whether I play football or not. I know I will make a good living without football.”

Four questions with Brenton Cox:

What player are you looking forward to competing with or against in the Under Armour All-America Game?

I don’t really have a player I’m looking forward to going against because we get to go against each other at camps. I would like to get a sack on one of those great QBs in the game.

If you could start a team with any player in your class, who would it be and why?

I’d definitely say Zamir White. It’s just how he controls the game. He’s going to get yards, first downs and score the ball.

What is your earliest football memory?

Going down to Macon in Pop Warner when I was like 7. I was always raining and cold, and we always played early in the morning.

What number do your wear, and why?

I wear 8. I wanted to get 1, but my teammate Marquez Ezzard got it first, so I picked 8 because it was the available single-digit number. I plan to wear it in college too. It’s grown on me.
