Under Armour jersey tour: DE Eyabi Anoma

Intersport

Five-star defensive end Eyabi Anoma was presented with an Under Armour All America jersey on Tuesday, along with teammate and Maryland commit, Jaelyn Duncan, in a ceremony at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore.

“It means a lot,” said Anoma, the No. 4-ranked player in the 2018 class. “It shows that hard work pays off, and if you put your mind to something that sky’s the limit.”

The elite, 6-foot-6, 223-pound edge-rusher is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the country with more than 40 schools still in contact vying for official visits.

“I’m open to all schools that have offered me. I have zero official visits set,” Anoma said. “All my doors are open.”

When it comes time to set official visits, Alabama is a near lock, while hometown Maryland has already had Anoma on campus this season for the Towson game, and will get him back on campus at least one more time this season. Anoma plans to announce his decision in February on signing day.

Four questions with Eyabi Anoma:

What player are you looking forward to competing with or against in the Under Armour All-America Game?

The player I would pick is my teammate Jaelyn Duncan, who I battle with every day in practice. My plan is to go out there, ball out and have fun. Everybody that wants a piece of me, I’m planning to show them what I’ve got.

If you could start a team with any player in your class, who would it be and why?

Jaelyn Duncan. He’s going to be a great tackle. You don’t see a lot of tackles as athletic as he is. You have to have a great offensive line, and Jaelyn is the anchor at tackle.

What is your earliest football memory?

When I was playing rec ball, think I was 13 years old, and I played [noseguard] because I was taller than everybody else. Since we were winning, the coach let me run the ball and I scored an 89-yard TD, but it was called back. I proved that I could run though. I outran the angle of the safety to score.

What number do your wear, and why?

I wear 9 because it’s my grandmother’s favorite number.
