Under Armour jersey tour: DB Houston Griffith

Intersport

Florida State commitment Houston Griffith was one of six IMG Academy players presented with an Under Armour All America jersey on Monday in Bradenton, Florida.

“This means that all the hard work from youth football to high school has paid off,” said Griffith, the No. 81 player in the ESPN 300. “It also means that I get to play in the game that Julio Jones, Jadeveon Clowney and all the guys like that played in before me.”

The 6-foot, 186-pound versatile defensive back committed to Florida State on Sunday following a weekend official visit having not been deterred by the Seminoles’ struggles this season.

“My decision came down to people and being comfortable, and seeing the bigger picture and opportunity I have at FSU,” Griffith said. “The season hasn’t effected me at all with the way I look at FSU.”

Four questions with Houston Griffith:

What player are you looking forward to competing with or against in the Under Armour All-America Game?

To be honest, I don’t know all the receivers in the game other than Justyn Ross and Terrace Marshall. I plan on just competing with every receiver in the game.

If you could start a team with any player in your class, who would it be and why?

Xavier Thomas just because the presence he has on the field, and how hard he plays. We need more guys like that on the field.

What is your earliest football memory?

Scoring seven TDs in my first youth game when I was six. I played running back growing up and didn’t transition to defensive back until the eighth grade.

What number do your wear, and why?

I wear 3. The significance is that there are three boys in the family, and I’m the third. So I’m HG3.
