Bracketology: St. John's in, Seton Hall out

With 4½ weeks to go until Selection Sunday, our two local Big East teams sit squarely on the NCAA tournament bubble.

St. John's is now the third-to-last team in the field, and Seton Hall the fourth team on the outside looking in, according to the Thursday edition of ESPN.com's Bracketology.

The Red Storm (16-8, 5-6 Big East) are back in thanks to back-to-back home wins against Creighton and DePaul. But the schedule gets tougher now. Their next two games are on the road, at Xavier and Georgetown.

The Pirates (15-9, 5-7 Big East) are out thanks to three consecutive losses. They need to right the ship fast, but have a difficult upcoming schedule as well, with road games at Providence and No. 6-ranked Villanova in the coming week.

St. John's hosts Seton Hall on Feb. 21, a game that could have huge ramifications come March.

Iona (19-6, 12-2 MAAC), which has won six in a row and has a two-game lead in the Metro Atlantic, is currently projected as a No. 13 seed.

St. Francis of Brooklyn (16-9, 10-2 NEC), which has won four in a row and has a two-game lead in the conference, is currently projected as a No. 16 seed.
