ARLINGTON, Va. -- As they prepare for the first-round matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Washington Capitals had their full roster of players when they hit the practice ice Tuesday morning at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.

There was some question over whether forward Jay Beagle would be available to start the series after he suffered an injury when he blocked a Vladimir Tarasenko shot during Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Blues. Beagle was on the ice for Tuesday’s practice, and coach Barry Trotz said the forward is ready to go.

“Yup,” Trotz said. “We had a full crew, so I expect us going into Game 1 as healthy as we’ve been all year.”

Other Eastern Conference playoff teams have been ravaged by injury, including the Tampa Bay Lightning, Pittsburgh Penguins and Flyers. So going into the postseason with a relatively healthy roster is a plus for the Capitals.

“If they weren’t 100 percent healthy, they wouldn’t tell you at this point,” Trotz said with a smile. “I’m sure some guys, like every team going in there, is probably not 100 percent healthy, but as healthy and in terms of ready to go, in terms of anticipating the playoffs, this is pretty close to where I want to be.”
