ARLINGTON, Texas -- Daniel Murphy remains on track to join the New York Mets for Opening Day against the Washington Nationals, manager Terry Collins said Friday.
Murphy stayed behind at the Mets' complex in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and went 3-for-4 with a double and a walk in a minor league intrasquad game Friday. He played second base and ran the bases.
Murphy is working back from a pulled right hamstring.
The Mets are keeping him out of major league exhibition games so that if Murphy needed a disabled-list stint, it could be backdated.
