The game isn't turning out like he would have hoped but Garrett Stafford probably doesn't mind.
Stafford, a starting offensive guard for the Tulsa proposed to his longtime girlfriend Lesley Iron after his team warmed up in preparation for the Camping World Independence Bowl on Saturday evening. Iron said "yes" to his pregame proposal in front of several of his offensive linemates, friends and family on the field at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Stafford went through his normal pregame routine before meeting Iron near midfield and getting down on one knee, full pads on, to ask her to marry him.
Tulsa trailed Virginia Tech, 52-37, heading into the fourth quarter.
Stafford is a three-year starter from Tulsa (Oklahoma) Memorial who moved from tackle to guard before the 2015 season.
